Several users have reported an issue in which iTunes 10 exhibits one of the following problems when attempting to burn discs:
- erroneously displays a message indicating that blank compact discs are not blank when the user attempts to burn a CD using the “Burn Disc” button
- disc burning fails with the message “Writing Disc Error”
- No “Burn Disc” button appears
Fix
In Mac OS X, these issues can generally be resolved by deleting specific cache files. Delete the following files/folders:
- ~/Library/Caches
- ~Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.eq.plist
- ~Library/Preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist
- ~Library/Preferences/com.apple.ituneshelper.plist
The tilde (~) represents your home user folder, which you can get to by going to the Finder, selecting the “Go” menu then choosing “Home.”

When I try to burn a CD from a playlist of songs that I purchased from ITunes.. When I click on burn to CD, it says “disc burner or software not found” I hear that others are having this same problem since the downloaded the newer version of iTunes 9.2.
Is there a solution to this?

i had this problem too. tried all the registery fixes, installing, uninstalling, drivers etc blah blah blah but nothing. then found this. too easy and worked straight away.i take no credit. thanks to cwalrus at fixya.com. i still dont have a burn button but right clk playlist and it gives you the option to burn. AT LEAST NOW IT WILL FIND YOUR BURNING GEAR
1. Do a search for a file -GEARAspiWDM.inf in C drive
2. Right click and install
3. Reboot the computer
4. itunes should be working without the error-I hope, it worked for me!!!!!!

Wish I could say the same, tried the eliminate plist and can’t find -GEARAspiWDM.inf . Really a bit fed up with APPLE ITUNES…. looking for other options but have used ITUNES for so long don’t know what to do.

I am attempting to burn music I purchased from iTunes to a CD. I keep getti an error message that I need to insert a blenk CD and the CD is blank. Plz help. I am going crazy trying to burn this CD!!!!!

having the same problem. Can’t burn cds from Itunes or picture cds(data).I’ve had no luck finding the file you mention -gearaspiwdm.inf.
