Several users have reported that Passbook does not work on their iPhones and iPods. Specifically, users have reported that they receive a “Cannot connect to iTunes store” error when they select “App Store” from the Passbook home. Passbook is an new iOS 6 app that lets you keep your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, etc. all in one place.
Fix:
Tap Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date to one year ahead (like 2013) and try again.
UPDATE: Several users (see comments below) have stated that changing the date to 2024 fixed their issue.
Notes:
- Passbook is not available for iPad
- Passbook app requires Passbook-enabled apps

Your solution worked like a dream.
September 21, 2012 at 7:06 AM
Did the apps you downloaded go to Passbook? Target, Sephora and Walgreens downloaded as stand alone apps (not in Passbook) when I tried this.
September 21, 2012 at 9:12 AM
I am having the same issue and have not found a fix. Each of the apps downloaded from PassBook are stand alone and not actually in PassBook.
Have you found a solution?
September 21, 2012 at 11:13 AM
The apps loaded as stand alone on my 4s as well.
September 21, 2012 at 12:01 PM
Yeah same here… this is strange.
September 21, 2012 at 1:57 PM
The same thing occurred when I installed them. I had to change the date as outlined above and that worked to hook to the store but when I am installed them they are stand alone. In Passbook you can not click on any of the icons in the app

Thank god.. 2024 thing works… had tried 2013 like 100 times and was utterly frustrated.
September 21, 2012 at 3:29 AM
This did not work for jr. Any other ideas?
September 21, 2012 at 10:29 AM
This did not work for me. Still stuck on Walgreens.
September 21, 2012 at 11:48 AM
Tried this, but it kept saying it could cannot verify server identity. It keeps popping up constantly, so I cannot do anything with it.
September 21, 2012 at 2:42 PM
I am also just seeing Walgreens now. Can’t figure out how to add anything else. Lame.
September 21, 2012 at 4:45 PM
Did not work for me
September 21, 2012 at 6:06 PM
This “fix” didn’t work for me on my iPod touch 4G. ): Any other ways?
September 21, 2012 at 11:03 PM
That did NOT WORK!! Have tried 50 times!!!
September 23, 2012 at 3:55 AM
Try changing the year then download it. Read my comment. Had trouble till I worked it out.
September 22, 2012 at 1:38 AM
Same here not working no apps in there and says can not connect to the store but the store works on the App Store app? Weird? Not connecting through the passbook.
September 22, 2012 at 4:20 AM
Doesn’t work for me, even when changing the date. I’m going to leave it a while
September 22, 2012 at 5:31 AM
The apps first download as a standalone app. Go to the app and sign up for the desired passbook content (loyalty card or coupons etc) those will appear inside Passbook. It shouldn’t be this way, but I’m sure that’ll change as Passbook matures. Also, the fix no longer seems to be working.

This did not work on my 4s.
September 22, 2012 at 6:43 AM
I tried to do the fix-up with no avail. And I did it five times! I do not what else to do; maybe it is my iPhone 3GS.
September 23, 2012 at 3:59 AM
No it is not have the same it is same for all had same problem. But I can get it now. Read the same as u guys, but u need to change the year to 2013 not auto. Then go to app click then download. Then change year back to auto then works fine

This didn’t work on my iPhone 5. Is there another fix? I’ve tried it like 10 times. Every time I do it, it turns off iMessage.
September 23, 2012 at 3:48 AM
Hey, when I first did this I did not put 2013 I did the day ahead, that did not work then I just changed year only to 2013. It worked. Go on the app download whatever then u should be able to put it on normal time again still should work. Try it.
September 23, 2012 at 3:53 AM
The statement was right just some of u r doing it wrong, like I did at first! Change the year not the actual date itself. I did the day and it did not work. Then I turned it into 2013 then it did work. Go on the app do what it says download the app. Then go back put your date on 2012 then it should be normal again. It worked for me!!!!!
September 22, 2012 at 8:27 AM
This still does not work on iPhone 5. Passbook does not connect. Tried changing date many times.
September 22, 2012 at 9:07 AM
Maybe if we rub our tummy and stand on our heads and hum a few bars of star spangled banner while changing the icon to the top left corner of the 2nd page and making the language Spanish and the background anything water related. Please APPLE just fix it fast. And the maps too was released too fast. This is my first apple product and so far Android is on par with Apple.

I am having the same issue when I open passbook it gives the same message can not connect to iTunes tried multiple times changing the date but it still does not work

September 22, 2012 at 11:33 AM
The fix did not work. When will this app be properly corrected?
September 22, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Doesn’t work. I can get to iTunes through Passbook, but I get sent to the iTunes homepage. WTF am I supposed to do next?
September 22, 2012 at 2:48 PM
After at least 100 tries changing the date one year with no results – I changed the date to 2024 – really! It worked!
September 22, 2012 at 3:36 PM
I tried the 2013 like 100 times, and it didn’t work. The 2024 worked first try! Thanks!
September 22, 2012 at 3:47 PM
This worked for me too! 2024!
September 22, 2012 at 6:05 PM
The 2024 Date change worked for me as well. Wierd.
September 22, 2012 at 3:47 PM
Make sure you go back and turn on your iMessage and Facetime though. Changing the date turns them off.
September 22, 2012 at 5:32 PM
2024 worked for me as well (coming from ACMT)
September 22, 2012 at 6:36 PM
2024 date got me past the could not connect error, however the ability to open items in passbook instead of separate apps still not working.
September 22, 2012 at 6:45 PM
2024 worked! It sure does turn off iMessage and FaceTime make sure to turn them back on
September 23, 2012 at 7:45 AM
I used the year 2018 – so your days are still in sync. same calendar day as 2013
September 23, 2012 at 11:36 AM
2024 worked for me on the first try. I can’t tell you how many times I tried 2013 and it failed.
September 26, 2012 at 12:48 PM
2013 did not work. 2024 did not work. 2025…worked!
September 27, 2012 at 8:19 AM
My wifi option is still greyed out. Hoping for a fix soon!
November 23, 2012 at 11:49 PM
None of the above solutions work
November 24, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Tried every year and it keeps saying, “Cannot connect to iTunes”
January 6, 2013 at 4:34 AM
You don’t need a App to have Passbook Passes. Passes can be delivered by web or email also. We run a test service to convert your loyalty cards to Passbook
you can try to convert cards to Passbook here
