How to Set Up PPPOE on A New Mac

By Sudz Kar 1 comment Last updated October 30, 2012

Your internet service provider may require you to connect to the Internet with PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet). The setup assistant will not guide you to configure PPPoE connections when you set up a new MacBook or Mac Mini. Here is how you can do so:

  • Get your username and password information from your Internet service provider (ISP).
  • Ensure that you’ve turned on your modem and it is connected.
  • Navigate the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
  • Choose Network.
  • Click the “+” button
  • Choose “PPPoE”
  • Click Create.
  • Type your username and password.
  • Click Connect.
