Several users have reported issues with iTunes Wi-Fi syncing. If you are having Wi-Fi sync performance issues, cannot view your iOS device in iTunes or you are experiencing various error messages (such as “sync will resume when computer is available”), please refer to the following troubleshooting tips to solve your problem:
- Ensure that your device – iPad, iPod or iPhone – is running iOS 5 or later. (How to update your iOS version: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch)
- Make sure that your computer is running iTunes 10.5 or later.
- Make sure that your iOS device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
- Make sure that you enable Wi-Fi syncing. To enable, connect your iOS device with your computer, open iTunes and select your device. Then click summary tab, and enable the “Sync with this iOS device over Wi-Fi” option then click apply.
- Make sure that you have an active internet connection.
- If you have a firewall enabled, make sure that your firewall is not blocking Wi-Fi syncing.
If you believe you met the criteria above and are still having issues, please try the following tips. After performing each tip, check to see if your issue is resolved:
- Close and reopen iTunes on your computer.
- Restart your iOS device.
- Restart your router.
- On your iOS device, toggle Wi-Fi on and off (Settings > Wi-Fi).
- Renew IP Address: Launch Settings app; tap on Wi-Fi; tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that your device is connected to; tap on the Renew Lease button.
If you are still having problems:
- Connect your device the computer and launch iTunes. Enable Wi-Fi-Sync. Now sync your device as you normally do via the USB. Disconnect the iOS device from computer (USB connection). Now tap Settings > General > iTunes Sync in iOS, and then tap “Sync Now” to see if it is working.
