Several users have reported an issue where iOS 8 update for the iPhone and iPad is causing Wi-Fi connectivity problems. Users are reporting:
- Unexpected/random Wi-Fi disconnects
- Not connecting to Wi-Fi
- No Internet
- Slow connection / poor performance
If your Wi-Fi is not working, here is how to troubleshoot.
- Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on again.
- Restart your device.
- Tap Settings > WI-Fi > Your Wi-Fi network > (i) > Forget this Network, then try to reconnect.
- Reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
- Turn off Location Services by tapping Settings > Privacy > Location Services
If you are still having issues, try:
- Make sure that your Wi-Fi router’s firmware is up to date.
- If it is available, use WPA/WPA2 authentication mode. If your router does not support this, try WPA Personal (TKIP). WEP is not recommended.
- If it is available, enable WMM if your router allows you to change this. Disabling WMM on your wireless router may cause Wi-Fi problems.
- Reset your iPhone or iPad by pressing and holding both the on/off and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo.
