Comment on How to open Mac’s .pages file format on Microsoft Windows by Monica http://appletoolbox.com/2012/08/how-to-open-macs-pages-file-format-on-microsoft-windows/#comment-1223176 Thu, 20 Jul 2017 15:36:31 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=4080#comment-1223176 This did not come out for me the way you describe. When I unzip, I get the following:

Data (folder) – contains 7 graphic image files, all but one looks like a colored square
Index (folder) – 7 .iwa files and a folder labeled Tables. Tables contains 39 .iwa files
Metadata (folder) – 2 files are .plist , one has no extension
preview.jpg
preview-micro.jpg
preview-web.jpg

There is nothing identifiable in any of the folders. The preview.jpg is the only decent size image of the first page that I can convert to a PDF for my user. She claims there is a 2nd page but I cannot find it. Help?

Works as on 20/07/2017.

This is Apple’s way of connecting to your Apple ID, iCloud, and any other Apple services. To make these steps clear, I’m updating the language to reflect it. Our apologies–Apple recently changed its language when connecting to these services.

Don’t worry, it sounds like your iPhone to iPod is ready!

They will help you with cancelling these Spotify charges. Check this Apple iTunes support page for additional help.https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=psp&SG=SG005

3.iTunes will now see your old iPhone as a new device and will need to activate it
4.Activate the iPhone

I see nothing to click that says activate.

Comment on Safari Problems after Upgrade, How To Fix by SK http://appletoolbox.com/2016/01/safari-problems-after-upgrade-how-to-fix/#comment-1223053 Wed, 19 Jul 2017 23:30:01 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=30060#comment-1223053 Hi Joe,

Apologies that this step is not clear. After restarting, open Safari again. When opened, a new preference file is created. If Safari works fine, then the problem was that preference file. So go ahead and move that .plist file to the Trash. If it didn’t help, move it back to the Preferences folder. Unfortunately, your problem is not in Safari preferences. Try other troubleshooting tips

Cheers,

You lose your Safari Settings but the system creates a new Preference file when Safari is started. Additionally, it’s best to rename the file and save it so that you put it back once you are done with these steps. Just add a suffix like “.crpt” (corrupt) for now.”

I put the file back after I restart the computer?

Comment on How Do I Know if My iPhone is Unlocked? by Zisis http://appletoolbox.com/2016/08/how-do-i-know-if-my-iphone-is-unlocked/#comment-1223017 Wed, 19 Jul 2017 17:01:08 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=34063#comment-1223017 I believe that the most accurate methods to check if your iPhone is Locked or Unlocked, is either by using a different SIM-Card OR through an iPhone IMEI Check service.

The only problem the SIM-Card method has is that it might tell you if your iPhone is locked or unlocked, but you will have no idea in which mobile network it is locked to.

The iPhone IMEI check service is the only accurate method.

I just want to point out some things about the iPhone IMEI Check services:
1) Unfortunately, there are NO FREE services for doing a proper iPhone IMEI Check service (The reason is that in order to make a proper iPhone IMEI Check you need to have access to Apple’s GSX database. Only a few companies have access to those databases, and they also get charged for accessing them – So it is impossible to offer it for FREE!).
2) An iPhone IMEI Check service must have access to Apple’s GSX databases, else the information you will receive will not be accurate. Only GSX databases have up to date and accurate information on an IMEI number, and it is important to have the latest status of your iPhone!
3) The iPhone IMEI Check report, will not unlock your iPhone, however, it will make clear of what unlock service to choose (Or what Mobile Network to call and arrange the unlock – If you are eligible).
4) There are many iPhone IMEI Check services/companies out there, but always make sure to pick the ones that have GSX access (Check if they have a sample of their report and see if they have the “Next Tether Policy:” value. If they have it, then this is a GSX report!).

1 or more years back, there were some websites that could provide free GSX IMEI Check reports, due to a large leak of GSX accounts, but now everything is more strict.

So, if you find a website that offers free IMEI Check, most likely it will be from a private OUT-DATED database (Not accurate info) or they will try to charge you after you provide them your IMEI number.

Comment on AirPods Safety, Radiation, and Death of Headphone Jack by SK http://appletoolbox.com/2016/12/airpods-safety-magnetic-radiation/#comment-1223016 Wed, 19 Jul 2017 16:48:21 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=36886#comment-1223016 Hi Daniel,

Some folks ears just aren’t comfortable with the AirPod (or EarPod) design and the fact that it’s made with hard, non-flexible materials. I actually could never wear EarPods but for some reason, I don’t have this same problem with AirPods. Go figure! Anyway, it could be your body is sensitive to the AirPods’ transmissions. You could be allergic to the materials, or something entirely different.

I suggest you give them a few tries within the 14-day return window. If they still are uncomfortable by Day 7 or so and you’ve tried to wear them on multiple occasions, return them and try a pair of Beats wireless or any other brand.

I hope you get comfort–they are really awesome!

Cheers,

Comment on Top 10 Problems with iOS 10, How-To Fix by SK http://appletoolbox.com/2016/09/top-10-problems-with-ios-10-how-to/#comment-1223015 Wed, 19 Jul 2017 16:43:30 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=34994#comment-1223015 Hi Doug,

I’m guessing this has to do with the resolution of those Google photos. Possibly, your Google images pictures were not shot with true 16:9–maybe they are 3:2. That difference results in the letterboxing you see. In order to get full screen, you’d need to crop those photos using the tools within the Photos app or a third-party image editing app. BUT, by doing this you actually lose some of the resolution (because you are cropping it.)

Cheers,

SK

I just got a iPad Air 2. It has OS version 10.3.2 on it. I have saved some of the pictures off of Google photos into the Photos app on the iPad, but each of those photos appears with black bars above and below the images. I took most of these photos with my Note 5.

Any photos taken with the iPad will fill the whole screen. Is there a way to get the other photos to fill the whole screen also?

Thanks.

Comment on Siri not working – troubleshooting by Jack Seifert http://appletoolbox.com/2011/11/siri-not-working-troubleshooting/#comment-1223005 Wed, 19 Jul 2017 13:28:29 +0000 http://appletoolbox.com/?p=3054#comment-1223005 I read that Siri uses the microphone incorporated into the earpiece speaker. Test id by opening camera; switch to front camera; choose video; record a few seconds while speaking into the earpiece. Play it back. If no sound, it is the earpiece assembly which costs less than $10 and is easy for a do-it-yourself person to replace. If you order replacement it usually comes with the two screwdrivers you need.
