We all love our iOS devices, they have one of the best mobile OS’s out there; but there are some things that many of us would like to change, here are 4 apps that can either replace the stock apps or enhance what’s already there. Let’s get started!
The stock messaging app that Apple includes with the iPhone is pretty basic and it can get the job done, but it leaves a lot of functionality that other phones have. If you have jailbroken your iPhone and want a better messaging service, then look no further than BiteSMS!
BiteSMS is a replacement app for the messaging app, and adds tons of extra functionality to the system. BiteSMS can add signatures, scheduled texts, emoticons, and allows for out-of-app composing; just to name a few. The app is free for 14 days, and after you can either buy credits for prices ranging from $6-120 or you can just buy a license that lasts forever for $8.99. It is available in Cydia, the jailbreaking App Store.
Videos: VEVO and VLC
The videos app is another stock app that Apple has included on all of its iOS devices, but is very basic. With VEVO and VLC, you can watch music videos and multiple video codecs on your iDevice!
VEVO is a music video service that allows you to watch any and all music videos for free. The app allows you to stream the videos using 3G or WiFi, and I have not found a music video that was not on the service. Overall, the app is very helpful if you’re a music video lover, and can replace at least half of the stock videos app.
VLC is a video app replacement that allows you to watch almost any video codec on your device. The app was originally in the App Store, but after a licensing disagreement, the app was pulled. Fortunately, the app can be found on Cydia for free!
Like all the other stock apps mentioned, the camera app is good, but is very basic. With Camera+, you can not only take pictures, but edit them with amazing filters and effects. The app is worth the “+” affixed to the name and can definitely make your picture taking experience better. The app is $1.99 on the App Store.
