Setting Up Find My iPhone

By SK 1 comment Last updated November 17, 2011

Find My iPhone is a great feature to have on your iPhone. For those of you that don’t know what it is, it is basically an app that is free, that you can use to track down your iPhone if it ever gets lost or stolen. You can also remotely wipe or lock the iPhone if this were the case as well. In this tutorial I will show you how to set it up on your iPhone.

The first thing you are going to want to make sure you do download the free FindMyiPhone app from iTunes. Next, you are going to want to go into your iPhone Settings and click on Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Then you are going to want to click on “Add Account”.

You are then going to want to click on MobileMe. You will then be asked to input your Apple ID credentials. When you are done, you will then turn on Find My iPhone.

Now you have set up Find My iPhone on your iPhone. You can now launch the app and it should be working fine. You won’t use this app much when you have your iPhone, but it will definitely come in handy when you lose it or it gets stolen.

Just thought it was worth noting, it still works after deleting the app. I’ve tested it, because I assumed if I were a thief, deleting that app would be the first thing I did.
