AT&T iPhone Insurance

By SK 1 comment Last updated July 24, 2017

I guess this is one of those “better late, than never” things. When AT&T first came out with the iPhone close to 4 years ago, one thing a lot of people were hoping for, including me was a somewhat inexpensive way to get insurance on the iPhone. At the time, we were dropping $500 for the original iPhone and insurance would have been nice to have. Since then, I have managed to drop my iPhone in the toilet, bath tub, and have many other things happen to them, only to think that I just wish I had insurance on it.

Well, that time has finally come. AT&T has finally announced that they will be offering insurance for the iPhone, albeit, not exactly a cheap version as well. The insurance itself will run you $11.99 a month, plus a $200 deductible, depending on the model.

So the big question here is “Is this insurance worth getting?” Well, it kind of depends. If you really need peace of mind for your iPhone, and you tend to be accident prone, then it may be something to get. But, also, realize that you can replace your iPhone for $200 through Apple as well, if something happens to it that is out of warranty. So in reality, this insurance may not necessarily be worth the price.

But, there are alternatives as well. Like I mentioned, you can get AppleCare for $69. But that doesn’t cover as much as insurance would. If you are on Verizon or looking to switch to Verizon, their insurance is through the same company that AT&T uses and it only costs $6.99 a month, with a possible $200 deductible, depending on model. But the one option that gets me somewhat curious is this option by Zagg, called Zaggsafe. It looks like it protects against water and screen damage. It was in beta, and hopefully going live in the near future. I have always loved Zagg products and I am sure this will be a great service. Personally, I have never bought insurance for my iPhone regardless of all the things that I have done to it. My logic is that with a 2 year contract, it just isn’t worth doing. If I knew I was going to keep it for longer than 2 years, I would consider it.

So, do you have insurance for your iPhone? Is it worth getting? What are some other great alternatives?

Hey not to set off topic but can anyone give me a review of. Philadelphia Car Insurance Reform 1044 Market St. Philadelphia, PA 19107 (215) 618-2175 They’re just down the block from me. I was wondering if they were a good insurance company. I need to get hold of coverage, it is the law you know, but I need to have a good price price plus I want friendly service.
