If you want to save your PDF documents or books to your iPad / iPhone / iPod Touch, you need to have a PDF reading application on your device. We recommend iBooks. iBooks is a free application by Apple available in the App Store.
You can save, view and print any PDF doc with the iBooks application. Simply tap the “Open in iBooks,” button in the upper right corner to open PDF documents, such as a PDF attached to an email or a PDF url on Safari. iBooks will also automatically save a copy of the doc to your iBooks PDF library so you can access this PDF anytime. These PDF files will be synced to the iTunes Book library when you sync your device with iTunes.
Syncing and saving PDF docs
- Add the PDF files to your iTunes library on your computer
- Select your iOS device in the Devices list on the left in iTunes
- Click the Books tab
- Make sure that the Sync Books checkbox is checked
- Click Sync
Printing PDF Files
Open your PDF in iBooks and tap on the arrow located in the top menu bar, then Tap print. Note that you need to have a printer that supports AirPrint. To learn more please read this AirPrint 101 or you may try some third party apps.
If, for whatever reason, you do not want to use iBooks, you may want to try other third party alternatives. GoodReader may be a good choice for you. It is not free ($4.99 in U.S. App Store) but highly recommended by many Apple fans.
