Recently the app “iTether” was allowed into the iTunes App Store for $14.99. This application lets you use your iPhone’s 3G connection on your Mac or PC. Unfortunately, Apple ended up pulling this application from the App Store shortly after it was introduced into the App Store.
If you were one of the “lucky ones” to buy this application while it was in the App Store, read on! In this tutorial we will be showing you how to use iTether with your Mac. This tutorial requires an iPhone with the iTether app as well as a Mac running OS X 10.6 or higher.

Setting Up iTether – Mac OS X
To start, launch a web browser of your choice and navigate to iTether’s Mac OS X download page. Once the file labeled “Tether-iPhone.dmg” is finished downloading, open it.
You will now see a file labeled “TetheriPhone.pkg”. Click on this package file to install the tethering app on your Mac. To install this app, simply follow the on screen instructions.
Once the installation is complete, launch the iTether app on your iPhone and plug your phone into your Mac. Now, launch the Tether app on your Mac.
You can now browse the web using your iPhone’s data connection. Keep in mind that your carrier may charge overage fees for tethering, so check with your carrier before using this app.
