Siri says “sorry, I cannot take requests right now. Please try again later” fix

By SK 3 comments Last updated May 20, 2013

Several users have reported Siri issues. Users further reported that they are receiving these error messages:

  • Sorry, I cannot take requests right now. Please try again later
  • There’s something wrong and I can’t answer your question right now. Please try again in a little while
  • I’m really sorry about this but I can’t take any requests right now. Please try again later
  • Sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network

These type of errors usually mean one of the followings:

  • You have poor or no Internet connection. Siri requires an active Internet connection using your Cellular Data plan or wireless connection, Wi-Fi. If your connection is slow, or has intermittend drops, this may cause Siri to issue these messages. To fix this issue, troubleshoot your connection. Here is what you can do:
    • Make sure that Siri is on (Settings > General > Siri)
    • Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    • Toggle Wi-Fi off and back on again
  • Apple services are down. Siri sends your information to Apple to process your requests. So if Apple’s servers are down, Siri would not work.
    • You may want to check for known reported outages with any of the Apple system services:

Your Siri is really RUDE! She interrupts when I am speaking, she says things like “who me?” she does not listen she makes up things, she lies, she is terrible. Can we get another person that is attentive and polite?

I get this majority of the time. This only happened after doing the iOS 8.x updates. Never happened before, even when asking to dial from my contacts list.

The only solution I see is to purchase a non-Apple phone.

I get this message nearly every day at least once! I know it’s coming for when I ask Siri to make a call from my contacts and I wait….wait…….and wait…then after an indeterminate time, I hear “I’m really sorry about this, but….” from Siri. I can look at the phone and I have several bars.

So, what is the real problem?
