The Personal Hotspot feature lets you use your iPhone’s or iPad’s cellular data connection to connect your computers or other devices to the Internet. Some users reported that after updating to iOS 8 (and 8.1), their Personal Hotspot settings disappeared. In this article, I will explain all possible reasons why you may not see the option for Personal Hotspot. If the Personal Hotspot option is missing on your iPhone/iPad, here is how you can fix. Try steps below until you fix your problem:
1. Normally, you will see this option by going to Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot. If not, read on.
2. If you see no personal hotspot option, contact your carrier and confirm with them that this feature is supported. Note that not all carriers support this feature. Follow this link to see if your carrier supports Apple Personal Hotspot.
3.If your carrier support this feature and if you are, still, not seeing the option, you may need to update your carrier settings. To do this, simply tap Settings > General > About. You will see a prompt if there is an update.
4. If your APN (Access Point Name) settings are incorrect, you may not see this feature. To fix, tap Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network. Now copy the settings you have for Cellular Data to Personal Hotspot.
5. Turn off Cellular Data then turn back on by tapping Settings > General > Cellular.
6.Reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset. Note that this will erase your settings like your Wi-Fi passwords.
