Apple is releasing the new watchOS 4.1 before the end of the month. The new update promises a lot of interesting features. Some of these features were talked about during the Apple event but never made it to watchOS 4 when it was released.
Here are a few watchOS 4.1 features that are definitely worth the excitement!
Starting with watchOS 4.1, you now have the ability to stream Apple music to your Apple Watch Series 3. Your entire iCloud music library can now be browsed on your Apple Watch.
The new Radio App, made available with watchOS 4.1 provides you additional streaming options. This has Beats One and three live radio stations. It has many Apple music radio stations. On watchOS 4.1, when you request a song via Siri, it plays through this new Radio app.
Siri is becoming more and more central to the watchOS experience. If you own the new Watch, you might as well become comfortable in using Siri. You can use Siri to find and play songs playlists or albums.
Those of you that own the Apple Watch Series 3 with the LTE option and are a Spotify user may want to re-evaluate the free 3 month Apple music subscription.
The next major feature included in this update will appeal to regular gym enthusiasts. watchOS 4.1 will now sync your fitness information with Gymkit enabled treadmills, ellipticals and indoor bikes and provide more accurate results.
Our local gym is yet to bring in new equipment that supports gymkit. Should be available by the end of the year. We think come early 2018, many gyms will start featuring this new feature and market it during their annual membership drives.
The new update also provides you with the ability to disconnect from a Wi-Fi network using the control center on your Watch.
Besides these three major features, the new update addresses security fixes and other bug fixes.
The bug fixes includes code to make sure that your stand reminders work as intended.
Many users were having issues with getting the haptic alarm notifications. This has been fixed in the new watchOS 4.1.
If you were having issues with charging your first generation Apple Watch, it has been resolved in this update as well.
The new update should be made available within this week. Please make sure to check for updates.
