Apple postponed iPhone 6s sales in Turkey due to Ankara bombings

By SK 0 comments Last updated October 14, 2015

Apple previously announced that the new iPhones would be coming to Turkey on October  16.

“iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in India, Malaysia and Turkey on Friday, October 16 and in over 130 countries by the end of the year,” Apple said in a press statement previously.

The devices will be released on October 23 in Turkey.

Last weekend, suicide bombings killed at least 97 people in Turkey. We learned that this terror attack caused this delay. Apple has decided to postpone iPhone 6s sales to commemorate the victims.

In an email, an Apple representative told us that:

“We have decided to postpone iPhone 6s sales due to the tragic attacks last weekend”.

Tim Cook condemned the attack via Twitter:

Prayers, condolences, and hope for all those affected by the bombings in Turkey.

Turkish Government declared a tree day national mourning period.

Turkish lira’s value has sunk recently. Apple has recently raised prices on several products in Turkey. In fact Apple Turkey just raised prices on all Mac models yesterday.

The iPhone 6S will cost 3099 TL (~1052 USD) for 16GB in Turkey.
