In an effort to debunk some of the mythes surround iPhone 4 antenna performance, Apple has posted a page dubbed “Smartphone antenna performance,” which includes videos demonstrating signal loss on a variety of phones, including the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS. The page intro reads:
“Every smartphone has a cellular antenna. And nearly every smartphone can lose signal strength if you hold it in a certain way. To demonstrate this, we tested iPhone 4 alongside other smartphones.”
Apple has also updated its online store to reflect the planned giveaway of free bumpers or other cases to iPhone 4 users afflicted by the signal loss problem. The bumper sale page now states:
“Apple will offer a free iPhone 4 Bumper or other select cases to iPhone 4 customers. Details on how to order a free Bumper or case will be available soon on apple.com.”
