If you are anything like me, I try to do as much research as possible before I go out and purchase my next electronic device. The reason why is that I want to make sure of two things. One, the product that I am getting is going to be of good, if not great quality. It has to be, I am paying good money for something, I want to make sure that it will last. Two, I want to make sure I am getting the best deal on the product that I am buying. This is where a website like Decide comes in to play (Decide was acquired by eBay). In a nutshell, it helps you decide whether you should buy a product now or whether you should wait. Let me show you around.
When you first get to the homepage, you will be asked to type in a specific product that you are looking for. So for the sake of this post, I typed in “Macbook Pro”. Once you do this, you will find a plethora of information on the product that will help you make an informed decision as to whether you should buy it or not.
Because there are many different types of Macbook Pros, I am given a list of all of them. In this case, I am checking out the 13.3 inch one. I am giving lots of information on the price and whether or not the price will drop soon. I can also see whether a new model is predicted to come out soon or not. That is helpful as I don’t want to spend over a $1000 only to find out a week or two later that a new version just came out.
What really stands out is the “Buy” word and the thumbs up. Decide uses the information they are given and makes an conservative guess by telling me that yes, now is a good time to buy a Macbook Pro. Which, by all indications, even without this website, this seems reasonable.
The last part of this site is if I am going to buy the product, I can also compare prices from different places to buy the product and their store rating. I can also look at what people are saying about the product as well. Decide pulls in comments from Amazon, Best Buy and other stores for you to see. This is nice to have.
Overall, this is a great site to have. Before, I felt like I had to go to several different websites to do everything that Decide can do for me. It is nice to be able to go to one site and figure out if now is a good time to buy and what the best price is and where. And best of all it is done in a clean and fast site. The only downside is that right now you can only search for laptops, tv’s and cameras. In the future Decide is going to be adding more products to their site. For now you can vote up a topic by putting it in the search box and then filling out their form to let them know that you want a certain type of product on their site.
Go check it out and let us know what you think.
