We are having the same problem with an iPad Pro at work, I am the IT Manager at the company. I have tried everything all the way down to completely wiping the iPad Pro to factory settings and even putting a different user on it, all of which takes multiple attempts because the device will die in the middle of the process repeatedly. I now have the device with a new user set up and I can get it to boot to a normal working mode but it still fails after just 3 to 5 minutes. The whole time the battery display will hover around 90% until it drops to below 5% and then shuts off and immediately reboots itself. This happens whether it is plugged in or not. This happens whether we use the 12 watt or 6 watt chargers. This device is at iOS 11.1.
Also because the battery display will sometimes show the lightning bolt near the battery level icon and sometimes it will not (even when plugged in, even when I careful to plug it in properly and make sure the wire is not bumped) I am becoming more and more convinced this is a hardware issue, the the battery or charging circuit or regulator in the iPad is faulty.
