I have a 2009 MBP I upgraded the ram before attempting to install El Capitan. The computer was off or so I thought this morning. I finally realized it was in sleep but it cannot be “awakened”. Pushing control or other keys makes it make noises. Kind of like it is checking the DVDs drive. But the screen does not come on. I hold power to shut it down and turn it back on. The apple screen and progress bar show up and the progress bar moves to about 60% across then it goes back into sleep. I’ve tried keeping my hand moving the mouse, pushing keys and attempted to restart in safe mode. All end up with the same result. Could it still be doing something in sleep mode? Or do I need a new approach?
