Running El Capitan 10.11.6 with FaceTime 3.0 on Mac Mini late 2009 with 4GB RAM, gobs of SSD storage. When attempt FT video call to any iOS 13 device it connects on both ends for 5-6 seconds then Mac gets kernel panic. Reverse direction, same result. The iOS devices can FT each other all day long. I’ve tried everything suggested on Apple Support site. Reset off/on, reboots, reset WiFi network, hone run Ethernet, swap FireWire & USB to iSight camera, change cables, open firewalls, review logs, and on and on. This Mini cannot upgrade above 10.11.6. HOWEVER, Skype for Mac to iOS 13 works fine both directions! iSight and all.
Here’s my bottom line question: what would cause FaceTime for Mac to choke on connect but allow Skype to work just fine?

Interesting. I have the opposite issue.
FaceTime works fine on my Mac but after this Catalina update, Skype crashes 60% of the time during a video call.
Anybody else has this issue?
Usually, for Apple app issues, try and create a new user account on your Mac and log in and see if you have the issues.
Sometimes user accounts get corrupted and can cause weird issues on Mac. If the new user account works well for you, you can fix the corrupted account.
