When I open my iBooks it is stuck on the cover of a book. I can’t change pages or go to the library or store. How do I fix this?

On my IPad I have the same problem cannot use iBooks as stuck on cover page. Appears to have happened since updating to latest IOS? Also I am unable to delete the iBooks app, as I thought it was worth trying.

just updated to iOS 9.2 and the problem didn’t go away. This is maddening.

I fixed it! iBooks was not synced through iTunes, so I changed it to sync that way. After I applied that change and synced the iPad, I then changed it back to its original settings (which returned my iBooks to its previous state – collections and all!), which then returned iBooks to normal, without a book cover freezing it. We’ll see how long that lasts!

If iBooks is stuck open on the title page or any other page, go to the iTunes App and download any free book and click on READ. The book that is stuck open will close and the free book you downloaded will open in iBooks. This worked for me and I haven’t had a problem since.

Rhonda – this worked for me, too! iBooks was totally unresponsive on my iPas 3, with iOS 9.2.1. It had stuck showing the cover page of a book. Multiple hard and soft re-boots; opening and closing the app; altering its settings in ‘Settings’; nothing worked!
But, followed your approach of choosing to buy another book from iTunes, via Safari – in fact, the iPhone user guide, in my case – and I was able to get to a point, quite soon, where I could delete the errant book from my library and “from all devices” – and then the blockage just went away! Yay!!. I didn’t actually have to complete the download itself, in the end.

Hey guys, I had this problem too. Best way is to open something in iBooks such as a pdf from your browser and iBooks will continue working properly.
