My two teens live with me and my wife and we provide them each with an Iphone 4 to use as their mobile phone. We conscieniously restrict applications and features we do not want them to use. Two of the features that are off limits and that we restrict are Imessage and Facetime. Both phones are associated with one of our AppleIDs for purposes of “find your iphone” and “itunes” etc.
I recently looked at my son’s phone and Imessage was activated. I know his mother Imessaged him and I suspect she used her AppleID. I know she had her appleid in the Imessage part of the phone once before but I thought I had made the phone safe from tampering via restrictions and thought that it was impervious to others attaching it to their accounts.
Question: How can I find out if there is or was recently an AppleID used in my phone to Imessage? If someone adds an apple id, imessages with my phone, and then deletes their appleid from the imessaging app is there a way i can find out?
I really need to know if my ex has her appleid anywhere in my phones and I am not very savvy re iphones. If I don’t feel confident that I know what is on my phone my only alternative is to wipe the phone. Can someone give me some info on how the apple id and the iphone interact and how i can feel confident that nobody is changing the data in my kid’s phone, telling him not to tell me, and then deleting it from time to time. thanks

Messages cannot be disabled via restrictions feature. And you can’t find out if anybody used iMessage then deleted it.
