I recently started usung my ipad 2 again for uni, to take notes and read online articles on ect. It has been working fine, until yesterday when it would not charge, I checked the socket ect all working fine, so I went out and bought another cable. Still not working, I checked to see if it was the plug but it charged my phone fine, so it is not that!! Any suggestions?

Same thing happened to my iPad 2 a while back. For me, it charges when it is powered off, meaning when it boots up, turn it off immediately and it should charge fully. But, you will find, The port does not work for syncing either, so make sure not to disable your iPad! I learned that lesson the hard way. (Now I can’t reset it using iTunes so it’s basically bricked.) Anyways, I think It’s the Power Jack that’s the issue. (If you’re lucky, it’s not the logic board, which is like the motherboard for mobile devices). Just take it to an Apple Store and have them repair the Power Jack, and Boom, you’re done!

I have an iPad 2 that worked without any issue until I installed an Apple Update. Not sure the exact update version but the iPad was absolutely worthless after that update. I attempted to restore it using the Apple support guidelines. No progress or success. I followed the support instructions and attempted to reboot. To no avail. Is this an issue that the Apple Store folks can address and if so is there any cost involved? The iPad wasn’t two years old. Expected more from an Apple Product. I also had an iPhone 4 that failed the same way. An update then nothing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
