Now and then, but increasing in frequency lately, the backup of my iPhone 4S to iTunes fails with the following message: “iTunes could not back up the iPhone <my phone’s name> because the iPhone disconnected”.
Until very recently, I’ve found that deleting my existing backup and then starting over would work. But lately I have to try this more than once. I’ve also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the phone to my USB port, but the frequency of the problem seems to be increasing.
Although the backup fails, the sync continues successfully.
This is an intermittent problem. Sometimes two or more weeks go by without it occurring. Other times it happens only a few days apart.
Does anyone have a true solution to this?
I also have an iPad and the problem never occurs with that device.
I’m running iTunes 18.104.22.168 and IOS 7.1.2 on my iPhone. But this problem has occurred with prior versions as well.
Any help appreciated.
