Sadly, my old iPod 4th Gen (U2 Edition) has failed.
On inspection, the HDD ZIF connector has detached from the logic board.
I have checked the pins on the board and all seem to be connected properly still, however, I’m left without a connector so cannot reattach the HDD.
Does anybody know anything about this kind of ZIF connector or where I can obtain replacements?
So far I know it has 40 Pins, a 0.5mm Pin Pitch and a ribbon cable thickness of 0.3mm.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Sorry to hear about your iPod’s demise (temporary).
I’d frankly look at eBay for parts.
I also know the website ifixit offers parts for sale as well as guides on how to fix things. It’s pretty decent.
doing a quick google search, it looks like a site called GadgetMenders has this product as well.
there looks to be a lot of options for you!
this is the search term I used: iPod classic 4th generation parts
Hope you find what your need!

Thank You Anza!
I’ll have a look at these sites you have provided
I have also contacted the designer of the iFlash SSD upgrade adaptors for these iPods as his adaptors use the same kind of connector. Hopefully he’ll be able to point me to a supplier or something!
It looks like I have many options though.
All the best,
