WadeMY WIFE IS PARALYZED. SHE USES A SIRI VOICE COMMAND TO MAKE CALLS BUT SHE CANNOT GET SIRI TO “PICK UP” THE PHONE WHEN SOMEONE CALLS HER. SHE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO TELL SIRI SOMETHING LIKE “SIRI, ANSWER THIS CALL” SO THAT IT ALLOWS HER TO SPEAK WITH WHOEVER IS CALLING WITHOUT HAVING TO PHYSICALLY TOUCH THE PHONE. IS THIS POSSIBLE?
BTW: SHE SPEAKS IN SPANISH AND USES THE “OYE SIRI” COMMAND FOR MAKING HER CALLS. -
Hi There,
Yes, this feature is one of the most requested for Siri since its inception–and we are still waiting for it. At this time (March 2017), there is, unfortunately, no way to have Siri pick up your telephone calls for you. But there are a few workarounds other iFolks have discovered.#1
Ask Siri to call back after the caller ends the call. Siri will call back that caller whether you know who the Caller really was AND even if it’s not a saved number.Just press and hold the Home button and say “Redial that last number”#2
Purchase a Bluetooth hands-free device that has voice control for answering calls. Good Bluetooth earphones are voice controlled. When a call comes in it tells you that there’s a call and who it is from. Then just say “answer.” There’s a bunch of BT accessory manufacturers out there–check amazon or google etc. for reviews. Some iFolks recommend Blueant Q3. Make sure you get info from reseller or manufacturer to ensure answer feature works with an iPhone and your current iOS version. Also, it’s important to provide Apple Direct feedback on wanting this feature. Use this link Apple Feedback to let them know if this something your family needs. Since Apple prides itself on accessibility, they take comments like this seriously. (No pun intended).

This is a more expensive route, but there is a phone designed for people with paralysis. It’s called the Sesame Phone–Sesame Mobile Phone and it’s controlled by head movements.
Read more about it at Forbes Article on Sesame Phone.
It’s not cheap–currently priced at $1200. But iPhones aren’t’ cheap either and don’t include all these handy features for folks with touch-limitations or restrictions.

BillieHi I know that their competition has the feature of answering with a voice command. Hope you’ve found a solution

Jon ledwithShould have feature to disable ringtone and have Siri alert me to incoming call. Voice prompt yes/no to answer. The same goes for incoming texts. Allow for automatic texts to voice with prompt to reply. A smart phone should leverage off of the features.

Timothy WilliamsHere’s a possible solution that does not require any extra accessories –
My son has CP and has trouble answering his iPhone before the call goes to voicemail. Here is what we worked out –
1) Set the “Do Not Disturb” to allow callers in “family” list.
2) Set the phone to auto answer incoming calls on speaker. Now, if anyone in his family list calls, his phone answers automatically on speaker. Anyone else, the phone goes to voicemail. If they call twice in a row, it does go through and he gets their call on speaker. Robocalls don’t call twice. We did set his voicemail to tell callers to call back immediately if they really want to talk to him, so he can get calls from friends if they have his number.
Problem – There is no good way to hang up a call using a voice command with this setup – you have to use a finger.
