My wife is in France. E-mails are not getting send from her i-pad using wi-fi. The message is that optus.com.au can’t be connected. The e-mails are from an optusnet.com.au account.
What can she do?
If you haven’t done so, please try going to a different location where you can access internet. Internet cafés are a good place for this. Then try again, it might just work. I often found that network admins in France have a tendency to close ports they shouldn’t, and to use proxies and other methods of monitoring / controlling the traffic on their network. They tend to leave open only the web ports (80 and such), blocking everything else, including email client ports. If you have that feature, you can also probably access your emails using webmail. If webmail works and your emails work in other locations, you can try telling your hotel manager about it, but my bet is that you’ll just end up with a big headache as most don’t care, and those who do won’t understand 🙂
