With WWDC happening as we speak, we thought we’d keep you posted with some details as they’re unveiled!
First up, let’s look at some health and fitness improvements to the future release of watchOS 6!
1. Activity Trends
The new Activity Trends screen allows you to compare your last 90 days to the previous 365. That means you can find out if you’ve been more or less active in the last three months.
It tracks all the usual stats like steps and activity, as well as your walking pace, flights climbed, and cardio level.
What’s more, your Apple Watch will gently coach you to improve if it notices a downward trend in your activity.
Or it’ll spur you on if you’re getting better!
Let’s hope for that one.
Our ability to hear is crucial to living a life well lived. Listen out for traffic on the street, have quiet conversations with your friends, enjoy music or television, and hear the first words of your kids.
None of us want to lose our hearing, and with the new Noise app in watchOS 6 it’s less likely that you will.
The Noise app measures noise around you, or the volume of your headphones, and alerts you if the level is potentially damaging to your hearing.
You can even add a complication to your watch face telling you the current decibel level.
As a Sound Technology graduate, I can assure you that you’re probably around damaging levels of noise more often than you realize!
With this knowledge, you can find a quiet space to let your ears rest or be sure to put some decent earplugs in.
One of the greatest things about Apple is their dedication to privacy, so your Apple Watch will not record or save any audio measured to find out the Noise level!
3. Cycle Tracking
All the ladies out there, this one is for you. Track your menstrual cycles using your Apple Watch with watchOS 6, or using your iPhone on the upcoming iOS 13!
Your watch is a convenient gadget for logging when you come on or off and it’ll quickly pick up personal patterns that you may not have been aware of.
Input your flow level and other variables for extra data analysis, and receive notifications on your fertility rate and where you are in your cycle.
4. Health Overview
View the Health Overview page on your iPhone with watchOS 6 and iOS 13 to get a summary of all the health features and data on your device.
This app is getting updated with all the new features added with watchOS 6 and remains absolutely private and secure.
Apple cares about your data after all!
