Netflix Application for iPod Touch not Working – Gray Screen; Fix

By SK 9 comments Last updated February 17, 2011

Some users have reported that they come across a problem where the Netflix application for iPod Touch would go to a grey screen and nothing happens.

Solutions:

You need to set the time correctly on the iPod. Set the correct time then re-launch.

If this does not work:

Make sure that the iPod is connected to the Internet. Try restarting the iPod touch; if that doesn’t work, try removing and reinstalling the Netflix application.

I tried all the above it wasn’t having any luck. I opened up the manage applications tab. Did a force stop, clear data and clear cache then tried the app. This time it revealed an update was available. Installed the update and everything worked fine:-)

I had this issue, but may possibly be because of territory rights. I have Canadian Netflix, but am currently sitting in Amsterdam. So if you have an older or locked Netflix, try deleting and redownloading the app from your localized app store (I’ve noticed I can get different apps when in the states)

I’ve tried all the “hints” on here and still I get the error to “check date and time settings”. I have reset the time, the network settings unloaded and reloaded the app, ect. Still it’s not working!! Any other ideas?

Reset your “network setting.” It works instantly! Just make sure you have the password for your wi-fi connection.

Browse to netflix.com on your mobile browser (safari, atomic). Log in and click the movie you want. It will launch it in the Netflix app…worked for me

I reset the time and deleted the app and then redownloaded it. Yet, it’s still not working. My ipod touch is a 4gn and I’ve tried almost everything I can to get it up and working again because its always nice to have something to do at work while your waiting for a customer. Do you have any other ways to get Netflix to work properly again? Thanks.
