The 6 best iPhone apps for Valentine’s Day

1. Tinder: For those who need a last-minute date

You can argue over whether or not Tinder is a place for romance at all, but needless to say, there are plenty of people who can make good use of Tinder this Valentine’s Day.

If you somehow don’t know what Tinder is, it’s an app that allows you to quickly make romantic matches with people online. You choose your sexual orientation, set your location, and then swipe ‘yes’ and ‘no’ on people based on how attractive you find them. If two people swipe ‘yes’ on each other, it’s a match! And that means you’ll be able to chat with them.

Tinder is in this list of apps for Valentine’s Day not only because it’s a decent way to meet new people, but also because the app is even easier to use on Valentine’s Day. More people will be using it than usual, which means you’ll have more opportunities to set up a quick date.

2. Airtime: Have a long-distance movie night

Airtime is an app I discovered recently that long-distance couples are sure to love. The Airtime app allows you to watch online content in sync with other people. For instance, you can both log into the app, play a video on YouTube, and Airtime will play the video in sync on each of your devices.

Not only that, but Airtime allows you to call and text during the video, making it almost feel like you’re in the same room. This is one of those apps for Valentine’s Day that can help shrink the distance if you’re separated from your partner on Valentine’s Day.

The one caveat to Airtime is that it doesn’t work with every streaming service. Namely, it doesn’t work with Netflix. It does work with YouTube, however, so you can watch YouTube videos together or rent a movie from YouTube and watch that.

3. Etsy: Buy a creative Valentine’s Day gift

Another great app for Valentine’s Day is Etsy. Etsy is an app that allows artists, resellers, and crafters to sell handmade goods. Unlike eBay or local marketplace apps, Etsy is extremely creator-oriented. This means that the items on the app are often one-of-a-kind, or at least very unique.

If your partner is into a particular show, game, series, or other fandoms, you can find tons of cool collectibles, stickers, and art pieces to gift them. I’ve also found that Etsy is a great place to find regional gifts. So if your partner is from another region or country, you can buy them a little piece of home from Etsy.

I think that Etsy is not only one of the best apps for Valentine’s Day, but also one of the best apps for gift-giving in general. Be sure to scour the platform before making a final decision on your gift!

4. 1800Flowers: Send flowers just in the nick of time

Buying flowers is a staple of Valentine’s Day culture, and for good reason! Just about everyone loves to get them regardless of gender, they’re romantic and pretty, and they’re everywhere this time of year.

However, the process of going to buy flowers isn’t always so great. It can be tough to find what you’re looking for and depending on your schedule and location, you might not be able to deliver flowers to your partner.

1800Flowers is on our list of apps for Valentine’s Day because it solves these problems. It allows you to pick out a bouquet and send it to your partner wherever and whenever you want. It relies on local florists, which means you’re supporting your community, and it offers same-day delivery, so you can send flowers up until the last minute.

5. Couple Game: Put your knowledge of your partner to the test

Next up is an app that is as unique as your relationship. If you’ve never played the Couple Game, the premise is simple. You and your partner ask each other questions to determine how well you know each other. For example, “What’s your favorite color?” or, “What’s the thing that your partner does to annoy you the most?”

Couple Game is an app that makes playing this game easy and fun. It supplies the questions and allows you to play even when you’re not in the same room with your partner.

It’s a ton of fun, so don’t hesitate to download it this Valentine’s Day!

6. Significant Otter: Stay emotionally connected no matter how far apart you are

Last up on our list is one of the cutest apps I’ve seen in a while. Significant Otter is an app for couples that each have an Apple Watch. Using your Apple Watch, it detects when you perform a certain activity (such as working out or going for a walk) and asks you how you feel.

The app then sends the notification of your activity and emotion to your partner, who can then respond. This allows you to easily stay in touch throughout your days without needing to text or interact on social media.

I think this app is a natural and sweet way to stay connected with your partner, which is why it’s made it onto our list of apps for Valentine’s Day. Though, of course, this is an app you’ll probably keep using after Valentine’s Day.

Find the perfect apps for Valentine’s Day!

I hope you and your partner can find at least one app on this list that makes your Valentine’s Day a little sweeter. Whether it’s sending flowers, buying the perfect gift, or landing a last-minute hookup, I’m wishing you a romantic, fun, and special holiday!
