The iPhone 4S is Jailbroken, Allowing Siri To Run On iPhone 4

By SK 0 comments Last updated November 1, 2011

For those of you who like to be free, the newest model of the iPhone is now able to be liberated. The other word for it is “jailbroken”. The new software is still in its infancy, but is on the way. Read more to find out about the latest way to have an open iPhone 4S.

The news has arrived from the regular sources of jailbreaking on the internet. Musclenerd is the one who has announced the jailbreak of the iPhone 4S. It is very early and a public release is not imminent, but the major part of the work has already been done. The iPhone 4S is rooted, complete with photos. Musclenerd is a member of the iPhone Dev Team. Even with that name they are not to be confused with anyone who actually works at Apple. They are quite the antithesis of that. They work on opening up what Apple wants to stay closed, namely, the mobile operating systems of the Apple company.

When an iPhone gets jailbroken, the user then loads up another software called Cydia. This allows the user to have full control over their iPhone and not have to be limited to the iTunes store for apps. This level of use is still not available for the iPhone 4S or the iPad 2 just yet, but as stated, is on the way. The interesting thing about this is that all versions of iOS have been jailbroken so far. Apple does not seem to be able to do much about it. There are even safe websites to visit that will jailbreak an iPhone with the download of one file. The iPad 2 has been seen jailbroken online from the same Dev Team, running iOS 5.

If you want to use your iPhone to talk on another carrier jailbreaking is one of the few ways to do so. This process will also allow that new talking digital assistant to be loaded onto an older iPhone 4. The newer 4S has a quicker processor than the 4, so it remains to be seen if the iPhone 4 will be able to benefit from this jailbreak. The Siri digital assistant is an important iPhone app. It works through using artificial intelligence and a connection to Apple’s online servers. For now, the jailbroken iPhone 4 is talking to those servers like a regular 4S model. The bad news is that the Siri program may not be seen on the Cydia program for a while. The good news is that Siri can work on more than just an iPhone 4, it can also work on an iPod Touch 4G. Some are reporting that the iPhone 4 can work as quickly as the 4S in the Siri program.

There is no firm date when the jailbreak for the iPhone 4S is going to be ready for prime time. There is already talk and jailbreaking being done on the iPhone 5 system. There is also no announcement as to the secret to jailbreaking the 4S. For now, it is simply a sure thing that iPhone users will have to wait for.
