- Here are the 4 major health and fitness improvements in watchOS 6
1. All new screensavers
Apple TV’s live screensavers are incredibly popular, so it’s no surprise they’ve expanded on them with this new release.
But who have they paired up with to do it? None other than the BBC’s Natural History Unit!
The BBC NHU is responsible for groundbreaking and visually stunning, nature documentaries like Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and Life. And they’ve worked with Apple to create exciting new under-the-sea screensavers!
2. Full-screen previews when you turn it on
Apple TV is all about the big screen, and now tvOS makes the most of that from the moment you turn it on. Apps will take advantage of your display to play full-screen video previews from the Home screen.
This might be in the form of game demos or movie trailers from iTunes.
But whatever it is, you know it’s gonna get you excited to watch that film or play that game!
Speaking of games…
3. Support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers
tvOS 13 adds gaming support for your Xbox One or PS4 controllers! So now you can play Apple TV games with some of the best controllers on the planet — without needing to go out and buy a new one.
What’s more, this means you’ve probably already got what you need to play multiplayer when your friends or family come round!
4. Multi-user support
The whole family uses your TV, and chances are they use it slightly differently. Well, now tvOS can reflect that with support for multiple users.
Change users to get personalized recommendations and see your own Up Next list.
Apple hasn’t explicitly stated it, but there might even be the option to age-restrict accounts for younger users while keeping your restriction-free.
All we need now is multi-user support for the iPad!
5. Control Center comes to Apple TV
How do you change users, do I hear you ask? Why, with the new control center of course.
Swipe across on the remote to access the sleek and simple control center on Apple TV with tvOS 13. From here you can change users, put your TV to sleep, or more.
6. Get customized Apple Music Playlists
Of course, multi-user support means you can get customer music recommendations on your Apple TV as well. No more teen-pop recommendations when you’re a metal-head.
What’s more, you can now open Control Center to control that music or get a full-screen view of the lyrics. You’ll see each line highlighted on the screen with the next line of the song visible just below.
