Can I Play Two YouTube Videos at Once on iPhone?

By Madalina Dinita 0 comments Last updated February 15, 2022

While multitasking is not sustainable in the long run, there are times when you need to handle two tasks at the same time. For example, maybe you need to watch two YouTube videos or live streams at the same time for whatever reason. How do you do that on iOS? Is that even possible? Let’s find out!

How Do You Play Two YouTube Videos at the Same Time on iPhone?

Apple’s iOS doesn’t support playing two YouTube videos at the same time. While you can split the screen and use two different apps to connect to YouTube, as soon as you start playing one video, iOS automatically pauses the second one.

What you can do is split your iPhone’s screen and let YouTube run on the first half of the screen, while running another app or browsing the web on the second half.

How to Use Split-Screen on iOS

Use Chrome’s Request Desktop Site Option

  1. Launch the YouTube app.
  2. Open a video and tap Share.
  3. Select Copy Link.
  4. Then, open a new Incognito tab.
  5. Paste the link to the YouTube video that you want to play.
  6. Tap More options.
  7. Select Request Desktop Site.Google-Chrome-Request-Desktop-Site
  8. You can now minimize Chrome while continuing to use split-screen.

Install the Split Screen-Dual Window App

Alternatively, you can download and install the Split Screen-Dual Window app from the App Store. As its name suggests, this app splits your iPhone screen into two windows. Keep in mind that the split-screen feature only works for web pages. The bad news is that the app is ridden with ads.

Conclusion

While iOS doesn’t support playing two YouTube videos simultaneously, you can split the screen into two windows. You can use the first window to play a YouTube video while browsing the web in the second window.

Do you think Apple will ever add a new iOS feature that allows you to play two videos at the same time? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
