How to Fast Charge Apple Watch Series 7

By Andrew Myrick 1 comment Last updated December 2, 2021

With the introduction of the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple finally introduced the ability to charge faster. Previously, your Watch would just charge at the normal slower speeds, which is not the greatest solution when you’re in a pinch. But you can finally fast charge Apple Watch thanks to the new USB-C quick charge cable.

How to Fast Charge Apple Watch

Apple claims that you can fast charge Apple Watch from 0% to 80% in just 45 minutes. This is great for those who like to track their sleep with the Watch, but might not have enough juice before it’s time to go to bed. Now, you can just throw your Watch on a charger really quick, and get enough power to last all night in less than 10 minutes.

But how do you fast charge Apple Watch? Well, it’s not all that different from fast-charging the iPhone or iPad. If you want to do so, you’ll need a few things.

In order to fast charge Apple Watch, you’ll need to make sure you have the three following items:

  • Apple Watch Series 7
  • Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable
  • USB-Power Delivery (PD) power adapter

The first two aren’t an issue, obviously, as the Magnetic fast charging cable is included with your Series 7. But as for that last bit, the USB-PD adapter, this can be a bit trickier.

Like the iPhone, Apple ditched the included charging brick in the box with the Series 7. The company claims this was done to help the environment, but it’s also to help Apple save on costs. This means that you’ll need to find the “best” charger to get the fastest charging speeds.

Best Apple Watch Series 7 Chargers

Because Apple got rid of the included charging brick, you’ll want to find a compatible charger. At first, you might think that you just need to go through Apple directly, but the truth is, there are many other great options available.

Before getting started, Apple lists the following requirements if you opt for a non-Apple charger:

A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) of 5W or greater.

Here are some of the best Series 7 chargers that you can use to fast charge Apple Watch.

Apple USB-C Power Adapter

The most obvious candidate for those who want to fast charge Apple Watch is Apple’s own 20W USB-C power adapter. It includes all of the power and features that you would need, while also working with the iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and everything else other than the Mac.

Anker Nano Charger

Anker’s Nano Charger is a great option for those who want a compact charging brick. Just throw this in the bag, or use it in tight spaces to charge up your Apple Watch with ease.

INIU 30W PD USB-C Charger

INIU’s charger may be even larger than that of the Apple USB-C power adapter. However, the benefit here is that you’ll find both a USB-C PD charging port, along with a standard USB-A port so you can juice up multiple devices at once.

Belkin 25W Power Delivery Wall Charger

Belkin has long been a proponent of Apple devices, offering some of the best accessories for years and years. This Belkin Wall Charger is no different, providing 25W charging speeds with its single USB-C port.

UGREEN 30W USB-C PD Wall Charger

Unlike others on this list, UGREEN may not be as well known. But speaking from experience, these chargers are some of the best out there. This 30W USB-C charger will fast charge Apple Watch and is even powerful enough to juice up your MacBook Air.

According to Apple fast charging starts at 18W not 20W.
