It’s no secret that the Apple Watch is pretty great at handling your health and fitness tracking needs. But at its core, it’s still a smartwatch that provides a gateway to the onslaught of notifications that you receive on a daily basis. There are some that don’t even pay attention to the health features, just as long as they don’t have to look at their phone every time it buzzes.

How to Turn up Apple Watch Haptic Feedback
By default, the Apple Watch makes a noise every time a notification arrives, while also providing a bit of haptic feedback and vibration on your wrist. However, you may find that the vibration isn’t as strong as you might want, leaving the door open for missed notifications. Thankfully, Apple has thought of just that, as its now possible to turn up Apple Watch haptic feedback. In fact, you can do so either directly on your Apple Watch, or from your iPhone. And here are the steps you’ll need to take in order to do so:
- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
- Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
- Scroll down again until you reach the Haptics section.
- Toggle Haptic Alerts to the On position.
- Tap Prominent.
- In the top left corner, tap < Sounds & Haptics.
- Exit the Settings app.
As soon as you switch from Default to Prominent, you’ll feel a different vibration. This gives you a better indication as to what the haptic feedback will feel like, helping you to determine whether it’s suitable or not.
How to Turn up Apple Watch Haptic Feedback On Your iPhone
As we mentioned previously, you also have the ability to turn up Apple Watch haptic feedback right from your iPhone. These are the steps in order to successfully make the necessary adjustments:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab in the bottom toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
- Under Haptics, tap the toggle next to Haptic Alerts to the On position.
- Tap Prominent.
- In the top left corner, tap < Back.
- Exit the Watch app.
Unlike changing these settings right on the Apple Watch, you aren’t provided with a “test” vibration to let you know how strong the feedback will be. Instead, you’ll just have to wait for a notification to actually arrive, before making the final determination.
In the event that your efforts to turn up Apple Watch haptic feedback are still not to your liking, there’s not much else that you can do from the Settings app. Instead, Apple recommends adjusting your Watch band to provide a “snug but comfortable” fit. Additionally, you might want to tighten or loosen the Watch band depending on what activities you are performing. For example, if you are using the Apple Watch while working out, you’ll want to tighten the band, and then loosen the band again once your workout is completed.
