Apple ID Cannot Be Used to Create Accounts for Other Apps

By Madalina Dinita 2 comments Last updated February 3, 2022

When you try to create an account for a new app using your Apple ID, a strange message may pop up saying that “Your Apple ID cannot be used to create accounts for other apps”. Try restarting your device, and check if you’re still getting the same alert. If this is the case, follow the steps below to solve the problem.

What to Do if You Can’t Use Apple ID to Create Accounts for Other Apps

Apple has an interesting privacy and security option for iOS called “Sign in with Apple“. If the app you’re trying to create an account for doesn’t support “Sign in with Apple”, you can’t use this feature.

Keep in mind that this option is not available for children under 13 years old. The age limitations may vary depending on the country you live in. In some countries, you need to be older than 16 to use this feature. For more information, visit Apple’s support page.

If you’re sure the app supports “Sign in with Apple”, and there are no age limitations on your side, go to the next step.

Log Out of Your Apple Account

Check if you already created an app account on another iOS device using the same Apple ID. That could explain why you’re getting the alert. Log out of your Apple account on all your devices, and then turn them off. Wait for 30 seconds to reset your connection to Apple’s servers. Then, log back into your Apple account on your iPhone, and try to create a new account for the problematic app.

Reset Your Settings

Try resetting all your iOS settings, and check if this solution solves the problem. Maybe some of your current settings are preventing you from creating new app accounts.

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Then, scroll down to Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  4. Tap Reset and then select Reset All Settings.Reset all settings iphone
  5. Enter your passcode and confirm your choice.

You may need to wait for a couple of minutes until your device resets all of your settings. Then, restart your iPhone, and check if you can create an account for the app you’re interested in.

Conclusion

If you can’t use your Apple ID to create an account for a new app, make sure “Sign in with Apple” is supported. This feature is not available for children under 13. Log out of your Apple account on all your devices, restart them, and sign back in. If the issue persists, reset all your iOS settings.
