By Louis Roundtree 0 comments Last updated November 6, 2024

Things to Know
  • It’s possible to use your iPhone or iPad camera as a webcam on a Windows PC.
  • To do this, you’ll need to install third-party apps on both devices.
  • You can then use your iPhone/iPad webcam in apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.

Nowadays, people use apps like Zoom and Skype more than ever before, but the camera you get with your Windows PC or laptop might not be the best quality. Your iPhone or iPad, on the other hand, might have a much better camera, perfect for video calls and conferences.

This guide shows how to turn an iPhone or iPad into a webcam for a Windows PC, so you can get the benefits of your fancy iPhone or iPad camera on your computer, whenever you like.

How to Turn an iPhone or iPad into a Webcam for a Windows PC with Camo

The Camo app is a great go-to solution to turn your Apple mobile device into a webcam on a Windows PC or laptop. Here’s how it works:

Step 1. Download the Camo app to both your Apple device and your Windows machine. It runs on all versions of Windows from Windows 7 onward and Apple devices running iOS 12 or newer.

Step 2. Launch Camo on both platforms. You then need to pair the two devices. You can do this wirelessly by tapping the Wi-Fi button in the Camo app on your phone. This should open a QR scanner.

Step 3. Go to Camo on your Windows device, click on “Device,” and then “Pair a Device.” A QR code will appear. Scan that using the scanner on your iPhone or iPad, and the two devices should sync up in seconds.

Step 4. This is an optional step if the wireless connection doesn’t work for you, or if you prefer to connect via cable. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Windows PC using a suitable data transfer cable, and Camo should detect it automatically. If it’s still not working, try restarting the Camo app on both devices or try a different cable.

Step 5. As long as everything has connected correctly, you should see your phone or iPad’s camera feed displayed on your Windows PC screen. You can then load up other apps, like Zoom or Skype, and head into their settings to choose Camo as your webcam source. Note that you can also set Camo as your microphone source to use your phone’s mic in Windows apps.

Note that Camo has both free and premium plans. You can set up your iPhone or iPad as a webcam on the free plan, but you’ll need to upgrade to Premium if you want to access a range of advanced features, such as better video quality and watermark removal.
