How to see time‑synced lyrics on Apple Music

By Sandy Writtenhouse 1 comment Last updated October 10, 2019

There’s nothing like singing along to your favorite song. And what makes it even better is if you  know the correct lyrics, right?

With the updates for iOS 13, iPadOS, and tvOS 13 came a great new feature. In the Apple Music app, you can see time-synced lyrics. All you need is an Apple Music subscription, the latest OS for your device, and an internet connection.

So if you’re ready to sing along with a song as it’s playing or find out what the right words to the song really are, here’s how to do it on all of your devices.

Once you enable the Lyrics button in the Music app on Apple TV, each song you play moving forward will display the lyrics as well. Just hit the Menu button on your remote and click the Lyrics button once more to turn them off.

Tip: You can jump quickly to other parts of a song by tapping (iPhone/iPad) or clicking (Apple TV) the lyrics. Just scroll up or down and tap or click where you want to move. You’ll notice on Apple TV that if you move to a different lyric, you’ll see the time point in the song for it as well.

You can play songs from your Library, Radio, or other tunes you find in Apple Music. Just keep in mind that not all songs will have lyrics available. So you may run into a tune here or there that Apple cannot provide the lyrics for.

The ability to see lyrics in real-time so you can sing along with the correct words is a terrific feature. No more do you have to torture those around you by singing the wrong words!

I can’t see lyrics no matter what song I choose. I could see lyrics before the update they just didn’t play along with the song.
