There are many reasons for changing our answers to Apple ID security questions. Perhaps your answers need refreshing, your circumstances changed, you suspect your identity’s been compromised, or you plainly just want a fresh set of questions and answers. But even with these good intentions, sometimes we forget our answers…especially if its been a long time since we last needed to know those security answers!
Let’s remember why we need these Apple ID security questions in the first place. These questions AND your correct answers help Apple verify that you are indeed the person requesting access to your account. These questions are there to protect your identity, your Apple account, and all your connected devices, from iPhones to macs, even Apple TVs.

Trouble Remembering Apple ID Security Questions? Or Just Plain Sick & Tired of All These Questions?
If you have trouble remembering your security questions, try setting up two-factor authentication. With two-factor authentication, you don’t need security questions to secure your account or verify your identity. Two-factor authentication is built right in to iOS 10 and 9 and macOS and OS X El Capitan. So think about giving that a test and see if you like it!
So What The Heck is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your Apple ID designed to ensure that you’re the only person who can access your account, even if someone knows your password.
Who can turn on two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication is available to iCloud users with at least one device that’s using iOS 10 or 9 or macOS or OS X El Capitan or later. Apple recommends that you have at least one valid credit card on file in your account. This information helps verify your identity if you forget your password.
Turning on two-factor authentication for your Apple ID
There are two ways to turn on two-factor authentication.
Set up from a new device
If you’re setting up a new device and two-factor authentication, tap Continue and enter a phone number that is used to receive verification codes when signing in on a new device. After you verify this phone number, two-factor authentication will turn on automatically.
Set up from a device you’re already using
- On your mac
- Go to Apple () menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Account Details.
- Click Security.
- At the bottom of your screen, look for a button that says Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Go to Settings > iCloud > tap your Apple ID.
- Tap Security.
- At the bottom of your screen, look for a button that says Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
If you don’t meet the recommended system requirements on all the devices you use with your Apple ID, or if you don’t have a valid credit card on file, you see a related warning message. Read the message before proceeding and consider updating your devices or adding credit card information to your account so access and account verification is easy.
Two-step verification for Apple ID
If you want to improve the security of your account, but don’t have devices that are updated to iOS 10/9 or macOS/OS X El Capitan, set up two-step verification for your Apple ID. Two-step verification is a security feature for Apple ID that’s designed to prevent anyone else from accessing or using your account, even if they know your password!
But it’s not the same as Two-factor verification. Two-step is the older security method used by people who don’t have Apple devices, are unable or unwilling to update their devices, or are ineligible for two-factor authentication.
What Is Two-Step Verification?
You verify your identity with Apple by using one of your devices or another approved method. When you set up two-step verification, you register one or more trusted devices. A trusted device is a device you control that receives a 4-digit verification codes using either SMS or Find My iPhone. When you sign in to manage your Apple ID, sign in to iCloud, or make an iTunes, iBooks, or App Store purchase from a new device, you must first verify your identity by entering both your password and a 4-digit verification code that Apple sends to one of those trusted devices.
It sounds complicated, but it’s not. To set-up, just sign in to your Apple ID account page and follow the instructions on your account page. Using this two-step process means you no longer need to create or remember any security questions. Apple verifies your identity using your password AND the verification codes sent to your trusted devices.
You also get a 14-character Recovery Key to print and store away. That Recovery Key regains access to your account Just in case you lose access to your trusted devices or happen to forget your password.
So go ahead and set up two-step verification now.
I hope this tutorial has helped you successfully change the security questions for your Apple ID. Drop me a comment if you have any troubles.

im locked out of my apple id email and i just keep getting the run around and ending up in the same place…i just want MY account and apple has become no HELP WHAT SO EVER !!!!!!
Kk says
It’s 2021, I had this problem, reached out 4-5 times on the chat+called. They ALL have said that they can NOT reset my security questions, regardless if I have my id and password or not, they told me they did NOT have the ability to help me. :_)
AI says
I just finished a call with support after I was unable to use the online help links to reset. Apple is no longer resetting security questions. For everyone who thinks they may have forgotten their answers (like I did), the security question authentication process has been deactivated by Apple. This is why we get failed attempts at answers and why you get dead ended after the reset link. Newly created appleids no longer offer security questions during setup process only the 2-factor.
Apple is attempting to force everyone to switch to 2-factor. This was apparent during my call with support. It is the only option they offer even when escalated to the next level. I advised support they should update the online help information to state as such. It certainly would save everyone the time and effort wasted. So, all it means is we will not be able to manage our appleid account info. The option to change or reset passwords is working without any trouble.

I posted tonight that someone has changed my security questions and the reply came back “WRONG” several times. I wrote my security questions and answers down the day they were given to us. I should know if there is foul play on my account but icloud locked me instead of asking me more questions.
Or simply looking at my security questions and giving it just a glimmer of thought. They owe me.
I cannot verify my iCloud account. I never did that two way verification but it’s demanding for a phone number
My apple id is locked and i forgot the security questions.
I know my apple id and password though.
Hi Zoe,
Usually, Apple locks your Apple ID for 24-48 hours. If you know your ID and password, wait 48 hours and then try to login again.
SK
well this sucks.. Long time apple user.. May have just made my last purchase.
The security questions are not mine. I cant change them. Cannot get support.
apple security website will not accept my security answers and my browser will not open the link (says page not found) to the apple account webpage -supplied in the email. buggered !
Apple started out well with iPhone and iPad, now they are worse than microsoft, Apple your time is over, you can only dump badly written software and terrible customer support on us for so long, there are alternatives. After four iPads and three iPhones the time to move on to something more cutting edge has comr
Ok so I just put $15 on my iTunes account and I forgot my security answers and I clicked on the send the email to reset your security questions and I haven’t received ANY of the emails. I hate apple as frankly I am quite pissed off
So I see the button and when I click the button it states “Check your inbox for an email with instructions on how to reset your security information”, but no email comes. They randomly assign us these questions without our input and then expect us to know what they have selected for us as answers and give us now way to change the questions or answers. THANKS Apple…
samee!!! and its working on my nerves!! i cant buy stuff on games because it ask’s me for my security questions!!!
i have been waiting months for my email what the heck
I pressed on the button that gives you an option to send email to show steps on how to change security questions. It does not work at all. Ughhhhhhh…. I really need it to work so I can reset my iPod. My friend took it and disabled it for 23,696,073 minutes… How long would that be exactly? All I know is that it will take a very long time….
Hi , Am in the ,middle east and i have the same problem , i need to change the security answer because somebody is hack my account ID and he change the password using the security code .
I need to remove this security answer ,Any help Plz
I am an avid Apple supporter and have been for 5 years that was until now. I have the same problem in that I can not gain access to an iCloud account because I do not know the answers to security questions that I did not answer. I tries the send to rescue email but who the hell knows where that went as it didn’t come to any of my addresses. I have been told I have to backup my phone, well DUH! I need the password dummies, and then I have to do a complete wipe and start again. Android’s calling is getting louder and louder.
WHY? BECAUSE NOW YOU HAVE TO MAKE A NEW APPLE ID AND PUT MONEY ON IT AGAIN!
O YES HOW SMART.
JUST INSTALLING THIS NEW IPAD AND FIRST TIME EVER I SEE THE “ARE YOU SURE.?” QUESTION THAT I DISLIKED SOO MUCH FROM MICROSOFT.
And cant put my things on there because of the same problem all of you have. I could guess it if I had more than 3 chances before it would lock up
Tried all methods!!!!! None of the above succeeded. I am super mad right at this moment. Actually RESET my devices!!! I have a solution though! Create another apple id, and forget about the old one. Apple is like an over protective father!!!!!
it does not even have the “send email” option on mine it just sais type in your security questions and since i dont know them i cant do anything? what do i do??????
Should ask the security questions too , before redeeming !!!!!!!!!
Exactly ! why they don’t ask for the security question before redeeming process .One Answer because they are Investing the money some where else.
Sickened by this, having to call Apple or arrange a call, got fedup and sold my Iphone and Ipad, will never buy Apple again due to this.
This should have been a very simple fix for apple but they refused to make it simple and complicated it.
ANSWER:
When you first create an Apple ID, you get the option to add a rescue email but it is OPTIONAL. That’s why some people can reset their security questions on their own. If you don’t see the reset button, that means you did not create a rescue email to begin with.
Once you forget your questions, you don’t get the option to set up a rescue email.
In that case, you have to call Apple Support, they will help you reset your questions over the phone.
What about me, the person WITH a rescue email and STILL no button?
I forgot my security question answers and the email it sends request to is deactivated how do i change the email it sends to? I already redeemed an itunes code on that account
It doesn’t even send to your email I have gotten no email from them in the last 2 months
It’s kinda hard to remember passwords that never got set up by me to begin with. Apple seems to be like facebook–make decisions without consulting the user.
It won’t send to my email …. Help!
Call this number 1-800-275-2273 the Robot thing is Gonna ask u for the device say the device then it’s gonna ask for your PIN number, located on the back of your device then after that its gonna get connected to a human then just say your problem (:
I am out side of USA (Qatar) and i forgot my security answers I did everything you have mentioned in usual process still i can not find from where we can reset security questions
The only way you can reset your security questions is you have a backup email filled-in when you create your account.
If you don’t have it, you won’t see a “reset security questions” option. If this is the case, you have to call apple! (ONLY WAY TO SOLVE THIS)
They will ask your account info, apple device s/n and PIN in your account. It only takes 10 minutes to complete.
Waste no more time to figure it out how to do it yourself.
where should the ‘reset security questions button’ be?
I have a rescue email and the button still won’t show up.
Ummm… Please just tell me where I go and what I do in a step by step way. I can’t understand what you are saying! Help me please!
Yeh, don’t know what ATB is referring to when he/she indicates:
[there is an option for you to reset your security info. To do that click “Send reset security info email to (your email).”]
But, there is a way to stop the security BS questions. Make every answer the same set of characters, i.e., “Name of your home town?”; “What was your first job?”… Answer each and every question with something you’ll not forget like “hatethesequestions” or “whocares”. All they want to know at Apple, if/when the need you to tell them the answer, is how to EXACTLY type it in! The code cannot be written to check for “valid” answers.
we dont remember answering any of the security questions so what i did was call them up. I told them the situation about never answering any questions. They told me since i verified the password to the account, and dont remember the security questions they told me to temporary put up a credit card number, expiration and security code up on the main itunes store account. I input that information int he payment method. He than pulled that information on his computer and told me to verify the credit card number, expiration date and security code. Than he told me to take that information off the account after we are done. He told me to enter this site ttps://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ than logg into my account and than go to password and security and get the temporary pin (lower left hand corner). Told him the pin number and than he told me to logg off. Logg back on and than go to password and security and he reset the security questions for me and finally gotten to reset the whole security questions. I know about the credit card situation but its the only way to get back into your account. Took the credit card information off my account information after we reset the questions. Hopefully this helps everybody.
I stopped buying music from Apple because of these Security Questions. Here’s how ridiculous this is. I opened a new iTunes account, bought a few songs. Went back the next day and Apple insisted I was using a different computer (which I wasn’t and I have a dedicated IP address) so enter the infamous security questions which of course I forgot.
I call Apple and they can’t help me, too many failed login attempts. Huh? Support can’t override a lockout like that? Additionally, the Tier 1 Apple support operator wanted me to verify information that I never gave them to begin with! What was he going to verify it against?
Hi Amazon I’m here to buy music….One click and the music is on my Desktop? Thank you!
i had the same problem
I have been locked out for over a month now. Apple said if you cant answer the questions there is nothing they can do. Now i have to file a lawsuit. They are holding my purchased songs hostage. That is theft. Unbelievable.
F YOU APPLE AND YOUR SECURITY QUESTIONS!
Apple just lost my business and the business of all my friend and family
pissed off what is this? i just want to reset my questions so that i can download music and games! is that so hard!? CAN SOMEBOSY HELP ME.??????????????????????? ajitated.
i hate this it freaking sucks i want to buy something
My 14 year old daughter cannot remember what she put down for her answers and now she can’t buy songs, apps, movies,
nothing!!!! This is crazy!!
If u sign into your account add a credit card sign out, and back in again then try to pay something instead of it asking u what ur questions are it will ask for the credit card number. Then it will work! (U can deflate the card from ur account after)
My 14 year old daughter cannot remember what she put down for her answers and now she can’t buy songs apps movies nothing!!!! This is crazy!!
To reset security questions you have to speak to Apple Care go to:
apple.com/support/iTunes
Bottom left click on contact us and set up callback
Or call 800 my iPhone
You have to know your password
I checked my apple account,it was not the qestion i answered before!
Just talked with Dave @ Apple in Portland. Walked me thru same problem you have all been having. Guy is an Apple Angel. Call him at 877-388-0879 x51284
when i type in my security codes on the bottom theres no bar to reset them……….. not a satisfied customer.
And of course now the thing is locked out. Well done Apple you have created an unfixable paradox. Cant get the security reset without knowing the answers WHICH HAVE BEEN LONG FORGOTTEN !!! WHY MUST YOU DO THIS ??
I HATE THIS NONSENSE !!!!!
Call this number 1-800-275-2273 the Robot thing is Gonna ask u for the device say the device then it’s gonna ask for your PIN number, located on the back of your device then after that its gonna get connected to a human then just say your problem (:
I changes my security questions its actually quite easy
how did you??
I need apple support from a operator , with my apple I’d and rescue email
So I was having the same problem as you guys, I just got an iTunes card and wanted to download a book but it made me answer these security questions that I didn’t make.
You need to reset the security questions but you have to call apple. Call this number: 1-800-275-2273. That number is for the United States. You’ll get a robot machine thing and once you speak to a real person tell them you need to reset your security questions.
You’ll need the site: appleid.apple.com open. The person will tell you to sign into your account then click on the “password and security” option. The person will then tell you to click on a button that says “pin” and then click on generate pin. The person will ask you for the pin and give it to them. Then you’ll need to log out of your account and the person will reset some stuff, then log back in and you can now chose what to make your security questions.
Hope this helps y’all!
Nick,
This worked like a charm. Once I finally got to Toby in security he made the necessary changes. Thanks for providing the phone number.
Somehow you need to find a way to get this out to everyone.
Is it free support or is there a charge to have this done?
The thing is I don’t want to have to call someone, I just want to be able to reset my question for home without having to go to an apple store or calling support, apple really is retarded…
I have the same problem I can’t find the reset button , I need a little help here please!
Here is something else i found out,the problem i was having was my youngest could not purchase items from the itunes store even though she had a itunes card security questions would pop up which she never answered in the first place and i could not change.the problem was she was under 13 yrs old once i changed her birthdate to my birthdate the problem went away.we answered new security questions and have had no problems since.hope this helps.
How do you change the birthdate on your apple account on a PC?
How do you change the birthdate
Help to change sercurity question
I also found the button but am not getting the email?
where is the reset security info button?
okay, so to get the reset button you need a rescue email, to get the rescue email you need the stupid security questions. You can get them by generating a temporary 4 digit support pin, but to do that you have to have an older computer. W.T.F.
I can’t get the email either! I’ve hit the button 100 times and yet I’m not getting the email. I’ve waited days. wtf is going on
So, I’ve clicked the link that says it will email it to my inbox, and now here’s the problem, IT DOESN’T APPEAR!!!, I am sorry for that outburst, it’s just that I’ve been at this for hours looking in all directions, and the sent e-mail is nowhere to be found… I have things i want to pay off before i start owing Apple… please help
To get the button, you need to make a rescue email, but to do that you need to know your security answer questions! Ridiculous…
I found a button but the email is not being sent to my email address. I’m thinking that it is not my email address at all that it is being sent to. What am I supposed to do about that?
Where you found the button??
Call Apple Tech Support, with a little information and the serial number of the device you are using they can get you going again
where is the button? ive been searching for 90 minutes now!!!!!
where is the button? ive been searching forever!!!!!
Wheres the button
This is how you reset them. GO to appleid.apple.com and sign in to your account. Click on password and security. When the questions pop up you will look in the lower left had corner of the screen and you will see temporary support pin. Click on that and it will generate a temporary four digit pin number. Sign out and sign back in and you can reset your security question answers. Word for thought, pick the questions that require one word answers. They are easier to remember. Hope this helps.
What do you do after you sign back in thou??? and when do i use the pin number??
This didn’t work
where please where is the stupid button
Is there a solution in the meantime? I have the same problem … there is no reset button anywhere for the security question!!! I have tried on 3 different machines now (iPad, Mac and Window’s PC).
help i cannot find the rest security questions just ring apple support or go to your local apple store
Can someone call apple an ask?!
It’s stupid I want to buy an app but its asking for security questions what I didn’t give answers to
I didnt answer mine either. Never been a problem till now…….
This is embarrassing l don’t even find the button
no one can ima call apple customer suport and chew them way the hell out
There is no reset tab in my apple id.
Exactly!!
same here!! not a satisfied customer…..
This is ridiculous there is no way to reset security questions. I even watched the you video of an Apple employee showing options screen by screen. Guess what my Account screen has no button for changing and/ or resetting by email my security questions. Lucky I can still access my account as I know the password and I can and have reset my password by email to see if this would help no dice. So now when I get kicked to security questions. I have to reset my password via email to get back in and again change my password. I have had this account for years and never set up security questions. I’m sure this is the real problem as we they recoded they probably didn’t notify existing account holders to set up security questions.
My problem is that they might be sending the email to the wrong account, because its not showing on my account. It’s my only email account so…
ok really, lets put this into perspective. Apple is trying to keep our accounts secure, but in doing so are now preventing us from accessing said account. Don’t you think that some kind of backup plan should have been created before all this was set in stone. Now they have million of people who can’t buy anything because they don’t remember the answer they put down for a dumb security question (myself included)!!!!!
Are you really going to try to tell me that we are all on our own now because apple didn’t think this through? Wonderful!
i forgot my security question for my iTunes and i want to buy something how to i change them
theres no such thing as a “send reset security info” button anywhere on the page…… now… wut do i do???
i have the same problem as u D:
I can’t find it either. Is there another way to reset or remember your security questions?
WTF APPLE YOU SCREWED ME OVER AGAIN!
Same problem! I could find the button! And since I don’t live near a apple store, I had to schedule a call with them. I wish someone would tell me where the stupid button is!!
equally pissed. try not asking such subjective questions! most companies ask questions that have a concrete answer. glad i just dropped several hundred dollars to them.
i got lucky and managed to GUESS my answer. considering there were an infinite number of responses i am quite lucky. either way…there needs to be a better system than this.
The button doesn’t always show up…I’m having the same problem and i am furios. I called apple and tried everything, nothing has worked. Now I can’t buy anything with the gift cards on my account. If someone could help that would be appreciated.
The button doesn’t always show up…I’m having the same problem and i am furios. I called apple and tried everything, nothing has worked. Now I can’t buy anything with the gift cards on my account. If someone could help that would be awesome
Same problem too
I am the same what can I do
So I figured it out…kind of. I had the same problem. I could remember my security questions and couldn’t change them and I didn’t have a link to send an email to reset them as Apple’s instructions instructed. The reason you don’t see the link is because you have never entered a “rescue email address”. Once you do that you will see the link they mention. I ended up going to itunes support on the Apple website and then drilling down through links and getting to where I could submit my name and phone number and then I got a phone call within seconds from Apple. Then I was talking to someone and I explained what I needed and they asked me a bunch of my security questions (that I didn’t remember). I think they wanted to see how close my answers were to what they had. Then they asked me other questions and finally they had me login and I was prompted to reset my security questions.
I meant “…I couldn’t remember my security…”
I already did the whole alternate email thing and it still doesn’t show up! And I’m getting really pissed!
Yeah, the link at the bottom of the screen doesn’t exist. I made a new email as a rescue email, and even with that it didn’t show up. And I can’t call Apple Support because I don’t have a phone. I literally NEED to buy some apps, for school and stuff, but I can’t because I don’t remember my security questions. I really need help! Everything everyone is saying to do, I can’t do, and I’m pissed off. Apple really needs a better system…
It’s freakin stupid isn’t it?!?!
Help changed password because I put my credit card detales and now my password and I’d have been disabled
I hate this I need help I can’t get mine craft I can’t do any thing I hate this SOOO much I want to squeeeze the life out of my I pod I am so mad now this is so ugh it is a yotal lie and I tyred all even Siri but not even she could help please help me.
Yep, absolute rubbish as usual from itunes.Idiots forcing us to answer questions we never set answers to initially anyway. No problem apple, your loss because I’m going to download my music somewhere else, perhaps even for free 🙂
I couldnt even find the button! There was no button!
What if you don’t know what email it’s being sent to? Then what?
I click that reset button but then i don’t receive the recovery email? WHAT DO I DO???
Where is the button?
Ok all there IS hope. Since writing on 31st October and reading everyone’s reply I rang again the number as given by Courtney in one of the posts above.
I didn’t have to give the answers to the 3 secret questions (because I never had them to begin with) I had to verify my ID by giving the credit card details linked to my itunes account (Easy, if you don’t have one set one up it’s easy) and had to give the serial number of a device that is linked to my itunes account (ie that I regularly use Itunes with) in my case it was my iphone that I was already using to make the call.
The apple guy then took me to a link (whilst still on the phone) and I reset my 3 questions and also put a rescue email address should this happen again.
I was over the moon, ecstatic and so happy!!!!!!!!! My 14 year old can now buy her favourite DVD yeah!!!
Just read the last input (not shown above yet) the kink was that there are 3 ways they can verify, the only one I passed on was a partial answer, I just told the Apple rep various ways to verify (security questions), when I said New Jersey, he said OK that’s part of an answer, you passed, at this point I have no idea what the hell I doing & saying to them anymore. Then that still did not qualify me BUT giving them our 2nd email address DID, evidently they can not send the info directly to you, you need to input a 2nd email address before you tackle this, because they will ask for it. and I am not sitting back saying I got it done, I still feel really sorry for those who have not made it go away yet, it took me many many long exasperating days
I have the same problem. There is a way to buy apps – but it only works in case you have an iPhone that is older than 4S. If by any chance you have it – Just buy the app from the older cell, it does not ask for the security questions. Then you will be able to download the app to you new phone.
update, I did not get the email yesterday from apple to change the questions as promised so i called again today, turns out they do not send an email as I was told, while waiting I logged into App store & tried downloading a free app, after asking for password, it again stated I needed to answer the Sec. questions, clicked OK then the next page was different it was the page to change the questions, after I changed them, then you click the email link from that page. So when the supervisor came back on he said it was their screw up and would notify staff today to give correct instructions. I DO Finally have mine straightened out. Good Luck
Spent 30 mins waiting for apple support page to download. This is crap. Still not loaded, and I’m pissed. Fix this apple!
back again, it takes 24 hours to get the reset link from Apple (some security measure) than email will link me to the reset page to change the security questions
took 5 minutes, changed my security questions yeah!!!
can u help me please, jbcrox@hotmail.com
Alex here from iTunes store customer support.
I am seeing here that being unable to answer your security questions is keeping you from the best iTunes experience. Now as a customer myself I am committed to helping you sort this out! Lets see what I can do to help you out today!
For security reasons, you’ll need to contact our Account Security team for help.
You can contact the Account Security by calling (1-800-275-2273) or by navigating to:
https://expresslane.apple.com/
From there, choose:
iTunes > iTunes Store
Then for Topic choose Account Management > Lost or Forgotten Apple ID password (any concerns regarding security questions also fall under this category)
Choose Continue
You will be given the options to Talk to Apple Support Now or Call Apple Support Later, please choose the option that works best for you. If the hold time is long, you may only have the option to talk with them later.
I was having the same exact problems as everyone else – security questions that I had never seen before – ie, no way to answer them correctly. Also, there was no link to reset the security questions.
So I called Account Security at 1-800-275-2273, and they were able to reset it all for me. It took about 20 minutes, but they were very helpful and polite.
Working like a charm immediately now.
So i just got off the phone with apple. The emails DO NOT go to your apple id email. They go to whatever email account you set up as a backup or rescue email. Once there you click the link and it takes you straight to the reset page. I did everything in under 5 minutes, thats including the phone call and the sexy voice on the other end helping me out.
where did you find the reset button
i know there is no reset button apple sucks!
This is ridiculous. The stupid link does not send me any email to reset security answers and I cannot purchase anything from the app store with out them.
Me too upgraded to a new iPad & getting the same problem as everyone else, I tried so many times I am now locked out, when is Apple going to fix this glitch, also I have no button to change security questions on that page
Same thing. Got a new iphone, now can’t answer the stupid questions. What was my first car? I’m 13, I don’t have a car! Actually talked to apple rep on phone but all he did was ask me the same questions, then entered them into my account and said “no, that’s not right”. Round and round I go…
Ended up emailing and phoning customer support and after about 40 minutes on the phone eventually got the questions reset. Good luck guys!
Same exact problem. Got my new iPod Touch on Monday. Can’tdownload what I want to download.
Finally got the questions reset by emailing and phoning Apple help. Took about 40 mins on the phone and we were asked answers to security questions again. Got one of 3 right but eventually they reset the questions. Good luck guys!
I’m having the same problem and no HELP. My daughter got $50 itune vouchers and is unable to use them because we don’t know the answers to the so called security questions. So the poor kid has credit but can’t use it
Can anyone help?
Same I know my security questions I sent my iPhone 5 for repair and they gave me a new iPhone 5 and also it asked for security questions I went to send email the email reset for security questions that its linked to is not mine but I got Ignored by Microsoft and apple
Added a second email but the button has not appeared!!
Have this problem with my daughter’s account. Signed on to my account and the button is there. The email it appears to use is the secondary email account. So trying to set up a second email on my daughter’s Aplle id and see if this fixes the problem
i just started using my macbook pro and i wanted to buy a game that cost 29.99. so, since i wanted it bad, i went and bought a 50$ gift card, because i do not use credit cards. so, i put it on the account and when buying, it gave me two security questions that i didn’t know. so i went on the website to try and reset it, to no avail. i kept clicking the email link and it did not work. i hope apple starts to consider the customer service they have in place, because it is not really “servicing the customers”.
I actually know the answers to my security questions but it STILL wont let me through!! It even told me my date of birth was wrong!!!!! Hello???
3 months later…
Apple still doesn’t have intellect to fix 1 button
I can’t the resend security question any where please help me any one
yeah i have the same but with the securtiy questions! and my account has money.
Stupid itunes changing
I got the new iPhone 5 n now it won’t let me buy stuff I have the same problem I forgot my security questions and I pressed the button to reset it but I get no emails at all it’s very annoying
Yes, same problem here. I don’t have a credit card on my account, I don’t give them an alternate email. I never gave security questions or answers, yet they say I did and won’t let me change them. I have money on my account that I cannot spend because I don’t know those 2 questions answers. What was your first car? What was your favorite job? Lies, all lies. Apple, fix your security and stop hoarding our personal information for future potential company gain.
Had the same problem and same email responds.
Now i give up, it’s up to you Apple… Treating your customers this way.
I can not find any button at all!!!! I hate this security questions…I know they r trying to help us keep our privacy but there has to be another, easier and more convenient way.
hi, where is this option for changing security question? when i click on ” manage your id” it returns to user& password page. please guide me
hi, where is reset button for changing security question?please guide
Same problems here…
I forgot my security answer, and I want to reset my answer, but it must be sent to “Send reset security info email to p•••••@facebook.com ” . And I pretty sure the email is not existed any more. help… how to rescue my apple ID …..
I’m having the same problem, I called the apple support center and they asked me to create an account too… But I didn’t becuase of the amount of money I had in the account…..
But I think what’s best is to GO TO THE APPLE STORE OR CENTER whatever people call it… I’m 95% sure they can fix it, the reason I’m not going to an apple center to get this problem fixed was becuase there are to apple stores near my city and or state (if you wonder why I’m not going to an apple store instead of calling)
I’m really unhappy about how this security questions situation is handled. I don’t remember my answers. And when I called the support, they were not able to help me. Thus, I’m not able to buy new software.
Creating a new account is not an option for me as I’ve already invested more than 500$ in the current one.
i see the send rest security info link but i don’t get any email at all 🙁
same problem. i didnt get any email even though i clicked it so many times 😐
Me too! I have the button but for some reason I don’t get the Email but I get emails if I change the phone# on my account
How did you get to the tab where it asked about your resetting because when I try to reset it … it will not le me….:(
I’m having this problem and I don’t see the reset button. I talked to customer serice who insisted that I didn’t need to answer security questions when purchasing on my new mac for the very first time. And I thought Apple was a good brand >.<
I forgot my security question and when I click the botton that says reset security question to it send it to a email that I deleted n that I can’t get back wat can I do I tried changing the email but it keeps sending it to the other one….can anyone help me???
Did you get your problem fixed?
My daughter is having the same problem..
The confusion probably comes from the fact that Apple are changing everything as we speak… and ignoring us in the process… If these problems are not fixed for you yet, do not believe those that promise easy/quick fixes… My experience suggests you may be in for a long period of frustration with no useful response from Apple.
Apple allowed me to redeem voucher credits using my usual id/password and then – mere seconds later – refused to let me spend them until I was able to answer two never-before-seen security questions. Going to account manager DID NOT provide an option to reset these questions. I believe that if you had already provided an alternative email address that could be used for resetting – a link is supposed to exist in that case (but I cannot state this with authority). I found that I could not change security questions without already knowing the answer to them… So had to contact Apple. BUT Contacting Apple by their preferred means (so-called “customer care” site) gained me an automated response. Contacting them in 10 or 15 other emails over the following two weeks gained me 10 or 15 more automated responses. Nothing more except a response after 4 days (!!!) asking me for date of birth and postal address (silly, since they can both be changed in the account manager!). That information was provided and i was plunged into a word of complete silence. Contacting Apple tech support on two occasions got me access to people who were willing to help, but even THEY were told to go away by the iTunes people! It was, apparently, a major software problem that they were not going to tell anyone about (i think they decided to call it an “upgrade”), so they ignored customers left stranded by their pseudo-security processes and rebuked their own tech support staff for trying to help! Customers are still being ignored.
Today I have noticed that I can – for the first time – use my account manager to reset the security questions! Weeeeeee… But still no word from Apple advising me that this option now exists for me. No apology either.
Consider for a moment how silly this situation is. They take my credits then do not allow me access to spend them, due to some weird pseudo-“security” process. Pretty much anyone who is young will have guessable answers to these questions (the first car is probably the one they are driving now, etc.). Ditto for celebrities or anyone with a half-visible web presence. But now that you can access and reset them with the account manager, it provides no greater level of authentication than the old id/password which you have to use to access it! So, over 2 weeks of being blocked out – because for some reason an id/password pair was not good enough – without any explanation or assistance (and being outright ignored) only to have access restored by use of the same id/password pair which was regarded as so unsuitable 2 weeks earlier…
The sound you are hearing is Steve Jobs turning in his grave…
Having this very same problem but still cant see option to reset on account manager…..grrrrr
Having same problem, they can take my money but screw me over in the process
At least you got the option to reset the questions, secure or not! I can find no option nor get a response.
hi friends, my iphone was locked because i forgot my appleid password, security answers, email. can any one solve my problem, contact me 919705181531. iam an indian
I’m getting asked about whats my first car and whats my fav of what i owned and I’m giving them what i know but it isn’t working its pretty frustrating :/ I’ve got money on my account but i can’t use it because of those silly questions!!! i don’t know how to solve my problem and i don’t even know who would help me!!! plz could you tell me what to do
I’ve NEVER had a problem until I put money on my account a few months ago, and I can’t even use it! This is CRAP! I have over 50$ sitting there that I need to use for school and work and I can’t!
Yeah um, it still won’t let me on or show me the option for resetting.
I even talked to two or three customer support peoples and they said that they can’t change it unless I have:
1. My password (easy part)
and either,
1. One or two answers to my security questions (which I’ve never seen in my life)
or
2. A credit card number on the account.
Now knowing I as a customer have NEVER had a credit card on that account before, I shouldn’t have to put a credit card onto my account in order to get my answers- They should able to give me my account back.
Put this into perspective: You’ve never had this issue before, never used a credit card on your account and you’ve used it for the last 6 or 7 years. One day, you get a $25 card for the app store and put it onto your account. On the same day, you decide to buy a random game from the app store, you check the price, it asks for your password and everything is good. 2 seconds later, it asks for more info, and unknown to you, you think it’s about your address or just information about you. Wrong. It asks you two questions that you have never seen in your life, but knowing yourself and forgetfulness may sometimes go hand in hand, you go ahead and answer these questions as best as you can. They are incorrect. You think to yourself “That’s weird.” and proceed to go ahead with the easiest route and just change the questions. The website tells you “THERE’S A PRETTY BLUE OPTION TO RESET IT RIGHT -points- HERE.” So you go to the page, type in your credentials and your face turns into a frown because there is no option. You proceed to call Support a first time, asking how exactly to fix it, and well, they’re honestly not very sure. A password, and an answer or a credit card should do it. Well I’m not putting a credit card on there, and why would they need it to do that?! You say good-day and hang up and call someone else. “They go through explaining that you can’t just override it because you’re the person who owns it, you have to go through the right process. I don’t need to copy and paste to show what they said, because you know what they said. So you say thank you very much and hang up. A week or two later you get an email saying “Thank you very much for your cooperation!” “What cooperation? What help did you give me that I cooperated with?” thinks you.
Now today you are sitting at your computer, you tried several different devices to check for the option still not there for you while others are sitting about smiling and giggling because they got theirs.
No harm done though, you didn’t lose anything…
except your ability to buy anything on that account anymore, $25 of well-earned money, and respect for the company.
I created a unknown e-mail address by mistake and did not realize at the time. I kept buying movies and tv episodes since 2011 on the e-mail address. I lost cable one day and all my movies vanish off my apple tv. I got a fee back but not all of them. I call and spoke to Christine sharp IOS manager who told me to e-mail her all my receipts to prove that I paid for them and she would put them back for download. Stupid me believe her. .I waited and no downloads. I called back and Christine was out on medical leave till after dec5. SO I talked to the Alison who was covering for her and she said that they would be out there. Still nothing. This has gone on since August 23 2014. I have talked to many IOS manager they had me doing all kinds of stuff to get my movies back. This past Saturday I talked to 4 IOS managers and I was told that they can see my item all 400 of them. We are talking $3000.00 worth of movies and TV items. I was told that the e-mail address I put by mistake was a real domain and I would have to ask them to buy the e-mail address and it would cost me $10,000.00. I have called the domain place to see if I sent them the reset at the e-mail would then e=mail it back to be. But too long on the phone I had to hand up. I cannot believe how bad there customer service is and when I ask to speak to their manager I was told that there is no on over them. They told me to keep trying to answer the security questions that I never set up. What was my first car and who was my favorite teacher. I am 63. I have never had security questions like that. The worst thing I had to do was listen to him keep telling Oh I see your stuff wow you have a lot in there, what was that point about. If I know back in August that I was not getting my movies back I would have never purchased anything from them again. I purchase 66 more movies not know I was not getting my movies back. Steve Jobs is rolling around in his grave
what are you talking about? there is no such button. never has been. this is crap.
That button does not work at all.
Hi there. Just so you know, that screen does not have the “Send reset security info email to (your email).” option anywhere on it any longer.. Still don’t know how to change my security questions. 🙁
Agree
Same with me I have found no info on how to help me – just to let u know…. :/
