Add, remove, or rearrange Apple Watch Metrics.
To make changes to the workout metrics on Apple Watch, you’ll need to open the Watch app on your iPhone. Then, just follow these steps to customize those metrics.
- Tap My Watch.
- Scroll down and select Workout.
- At the top, tap Workout View.
Here you have options for Single Metric or Multiple Metric.

Single Metric
Choosing a single metric will only display one metric on the screen during your workout. You can use the digital crown to move through each metric one at a time.

Multiple Metric
Multiple Metrics lets you display several metrics on the screen at the same time. And this is where the customization comes in handy. Select Multiple Metric and you’ll then see all workout types.

Work out your way.
Tap a workout that you want to adjust the metrics for and then tap Edit. Only so much can be displayed on the small screen at one time. So, if you don’t see an option to add metrics from the Do Not Include section, then you may have to remove one from the top first.
- To remove a metric, tap the minus sign in red and then tap Remove when it appears.
- To add a metric, tap the plus sign in green.
- To rearrange the display order of the metrics on your Watch, tap the lines on the right side of the metric, hold, and then drag it to its new spot in the list.

When you finish, tap Done.
You’ll immediately see the changes on your Apple Watch for whichever workout you start next.

Hi, I would like to include “average heart rate” in my High Intensity workout but this option does not appear as a green + option! Also, how do I either create a new workout (Gym) or change the name of an existing workout to “Gym”? Thanks.
