We wanted to provide you with an update on this issue that some users have been experiencing following iOS 9. Thanks to our reader community for trying out several options and then sharing the few that works for them. I would like to thank John D and Todd for providing an option for this issue. John provided the tip and Todd and his son tried it out on their devices and reported back the progress.
Following our original post in Oct, some folks upgraded to iOS 9.1 and noticed that the issue was resolved. Unfortunately, it was not consistent across the user community. There were many others that were still experiencing the issue despite the upgrade.
John D’s recommendation seems to have done the trick for many users! According to John, Here are his 7 steps to Stardom!
This is what worked for me for the blank, white screen on game center:
- close all running apps
- go into airplane mode
- power off the device
- power on the device
- go to settings -> game center and log out of the game center. For me, this was not previously accessible
- disable airplane mode and enable wifi
- log back into GameCenter from settings>game center
The steps highlighted above worked to resolve the issue for many users.
We want to take the opportunity to recognize John’s contribution and encourage all of you to share tips and tricks that help in solving issues.
We are proud to have you as a part of the AppleToolBox community.
Happy TroubleFree Appling to one and all!
Cheers,

My iPad is on os 13. Spades game is not opening. I see blank black screen.
How can I retrieve this game please?
Thanks
Elizabeth Jones says
Hi Nayana,
Try offloading and reinstalling the Spades app. Offloading removes the app software but retains your data (gameplay.)
Go to Settings > General
Choose Storage
Wait for your apps to populate in the list
Locate your Spades app and tap it
Choose Offload app and confirm
After offloading, restart your iPad
Returns to Settings > General > Storage
Tap the Spades app again
Tap Reinstall app

Same here.
I had problems with Gamecenter on my XR since the day I got this phone.
Just now, all of a sudden my device froze completely while I had two apps open. safari and a game app. I couldn’t even restart it.
Now I’m having more problems with Game Center and iCloud. I’ve even deleted my app. This Game Center and iCloud issue really is annoying!
Naif says
this problem still occurs in iOS 13.1.3, cmon apple fix it.

Resolved it for me
Alex says
Tried the fix, and it worked. A few minutes later, the problem returned. Any ideas when Apple will release an actual fix? These DIY fixes aren’t working.
Binko says
None of these “fixes” are working for me at all. So, Apple, what next? Any more “fixes” you have for me, or are you going to fix it yourselves, and properly this time?
Alain Trepanier says
The real fix (too bad Apple developers aren’t as good as I am):
1. Log out of GameCenter from your other devises.
2. Reboot the device where you have the issue, then log out of GameCenter.
3. Log in GameCenter, but this time use the same email address on all devices to log in.
To conne t to GameCenter, I was using my iCloud email on my iPad Air 1 and my gMail email (which is my Apple ID) on my iPhone SE. iPad had the GameCenter issue.
Cooper says
Did you say off history? What do you mean by that. Every game I own?
Sarah says
This worked for me:
-Delete all apps off history
-Turn on airplane mode
– Power off (make sure to hold down the powers button, until it asks you if you want it to turn off)
-Power on
-Go into settings and turn airplane mode off
– Check your game centre and wait a few seconds for it to load
I hope this helps, sorry if it doesn’t
Casper says
Dont working for me I’m loading on Game Center in setings.
Kory says
This is so annoying. all the steps work up until the part about logging out of gamecenter and logging back in. It just stays at the loading screen the whole time.
justin says
I NEED GAME CENTER!!!
Dee says
Okay, so I am wondering whether the people having Game Center problems are also signed up for Family Sharing? I just use my old iPhone 4s, which is still on iOS 7 or 8, for the affected Game Center apps. It occurred to me that the apps that still work are not on my husband’s iPad, but the others are.
Is this a clue?

I just updated my phone to IOS 9.3 hoping it will fix the Game Center issue but it has not. I’ve tried the instructions but once I press log out the screen is still white with a loading sign and stays there for ages. please fix this issue as soon as possible as most of my games are related to the Game Center
Jethro says
Nothing is working that I have found online. So I just turned off the badge icon notification. I have no friends anyway…so Game Center made me feel lonely. Lol
Mike says
Hello my Game Center is not working I try every tip and nothing… It just says it can’t connect to the Internet or that maybe an error but I checked every app and all work fine except Game Center please make a fix and not a fake “fix” thanks.
Michael says
Same issue here. White screen when trying to access it. Go into settings to log out, nothing. I have been on the Apple Support life line 8 times, nothing has changed. They act like its a non issue. Needs to be fixed.
Rod says
I am also having the same issue. Tried all the quick fixes and nothing. Seems like once a month I have to do a clean reinstall for it to work again. But I never had any issues until after 9.1. I have a iPhone 6 running iOS 9.2.1. They say there’s 1% of iPhone users having this issue. That’s over 130,000 people. I am beginning to think its hardware versus software. My wife has the iPhone 5s and she has no issues. My son had the iPad 2, no issues. Just me and my almost 2 year old iPhone 6. Lastly I watched a video on YouTube where the guy had the same issue but did a final video on this with iOS 9.1 and in the update it said fixed issues with Game Center loading. With that said why is 9.2.1 not working if they fixed the issue?
Tony says
Worked perfectly. Thanks so much for the instructions.
Jim says
I followed all instructions but when I went into Game Centre to log out, it completely froze. I can’t access it from Settings or from the Game Centre icon.
Martin says
This fix is still not working for me either. I can get to the log-out by going into plane mode, and I can also log out, but when I go to log back in, the Game Center setting screen freezes.
nunya says
Resetting the network used to work for me, but stopped working recently. This “fix” did nothing, same frozen game center. Thanks for false hope!
Acok says
Fixed the problem by reset the network only. No need to reset the whole system.
I’m using ios 9.2 and this just happened to me.
Tried the trick above but still not working. When i tap setting>game center it just freeze and i had to close the setting.
So not happy for this.
Yes, me also
This worked amazing thanks!!!!!! I’m a game developer and this is frustrating.
This worked great for me! But unfortunately after I had to turn my phone off I’m now back in the same boat with the white screen and being unable to open the settings for Game Center.
Really wish that there was a fix for this from Apple, not been able to play any Game Center reliant games since the day I got my brand new phone. Really, really disappointed that it’s still not fixed after all this time.
