Can You Use iPad Pro M1 Accessories With iPad Pro M2?

By Andrew Myrick 0 comments Last updated December 31, 2022

Despite being released last year, Apple’s iPad Pro M1 got an update in 2022 as the Apple M2 chip was brought to the lineup following its introduction with the 2022 MacBook Air. With this move from the M1 to the M2, the iPad Pro is said to be 18% faster in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, while also offering 40% better Neural Engine performance comparatively. And perhaps the most impressive improvement is in graphical performance, with the M2 providing around a 60% boost compared to the Apple M1 chip. All of this is fine and dandy, but if you’re looking to upgrade from the iPad Pro M1 to the iPad Pro M2, you might be wondering “can you use iPad Pro M1 accessories with iPad Pro M2?”

Can You Use iPad Pro M1 Accessories With iPad Pro M2?

In an effort to avoid getting too deep in the weeds here, the simple answer is yes, you can use the same accessories from the iPad Pro M1 with the iPad Pro M2. In fact, Apple didn’t release any new accessories to commemorate the iPad Pro M2 launch, aside from some different color options.

This also means that you can still use the same Magic Keyboard that was released in 2021 with the new iPad Pro M2, along with using the same 2nd Generation Apple Pencil and even Apple’s Smart Folio cases. All of this is thanks to the fact that while the processor was updated on the iPad Pro M2, everything else about the tablet is practically the same compared to the iPad Pro M1. We’re hoping to see another redesign in the near future, but for now, you can rest easy knowing that you don’t need to try and find a bunch of new accessories for your new iPad.

Some of the Best iPad Pro M2 Accessories

The Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad features a comfortable, responsive typing experience, a trackpad that opens up new ways to work, a USB-C port for charging, backlit keys, and front and back protection. Apple Magic Trackpad 2

Those who are big fans of the trackpad on the MacBook Air and Pro lineup might want to bring that experience to the desktop. And what better way to do so than to pair your new Mac Studio with Apple’s Magic Trackpad. All of the gestures work just as they do on Apple’s laptops, and the non-slip grip on the bottom ensures that the Magic Trackpad won’t move around.

Apple Pencil (2nd Generation)

If you pick up the iPad Pro, you might be over-joyed by the prospect of using it as a digital notebook complete with your favorite note-taking apps. And thanks to the new design, Apple has integrated support for the Apple Pencil 2. It works just like you expect it to, and will still attach magnetically to the side, as it does on previous iPad Pro models.

ZUGU Slim Protective Case w/ Magnetic Stand & Sleep/Wake Cover

Every time that I see references to this case from ZUGU, there are nothing but good things. The case is ultra-slim, which is impressive considering how protective it is, and it even will let you magnetically attach your Apple Pencil 2 to the top of the iPad Pro.
