Fix iCloud Not Working on Windows 11: A Quick Step-by-Step Guide

Make sure you follow each of the below steps to fix your iCloud Windows 11 crash and address any iCloud authentication error Windows 11 produces.

Step 1: Find Your iCloud App

Click the Start button near the bottom of the screen — it looks like a square, blue window split into four sections. From here, click “Settings”, and then “Apps” which you will see on the left-hand side. Find “Installed Apps” and click it to bring up a list of apps.

Scroll through the list until you find iCloud. Tip: Your apps should be listed in alphabetical order.

Step 2: Open Advanced Options

Look for the three dots at the very right of the iCloud app information. Click them, and then click “Advanced options.”

Step 3: Try the Repair Method

You’ll now see a list of actions you can take with the iCloud app. Scroll down until you find the “Reset” section. You have two options here: “Repair,” or “Reset.” For this first attempt, choose the “Repair” option. Just follow the onscreen prompts and confirm you want to repair the app. Don’t worry, you won’t lose any data or have to re-enter any personal information.

Wait until the process is complete and then open the iCloud app and see if it’s working.

Step 4: Try the Reset Method

If the problems persist, follow the same steps as above but instead of choosing “Repair,” choose “Reset.” Resetting the app deletes iCloud and any associated data. Make sure you know your Apple ID login details, including your password, before making this step. Any iCloud authentication error Windows 11 shows after this is usually because the user forgot their password.

If the above steps don’t work, you can try to manually reinstall the app. First, you need to uninstall the iCloud app. Follow the steps above to get to “Advanced options.” This time, scroll past the “Reset” section until you see “Uninstall.” Confirm that you want to do this when prompted.

Now you need to head to the Microsoft Store. On Windows 11 computers, you should be able to access it from your Start menu. When the app opens, just search for “iCloud.” Alternatively, you can simply search for “Windows 11 iCloud” on any internet search engine and click the link that starts with “apps.microsoft.com.” On either option, click the “Get” or “Install” button.

Top tip: Remember to install updates when prompted to prevent iCloud not working on Windows 11 devices. If problems persist, you can always access your iCloud data by heading to www.icloud.com and entering your login details.
