Amazon’s Kindle devices were practically made for a single purpose: reading e-books. However, if you’re buying e-books outside of Amazon, not all of them will be immediately deposited into your Kindle. And Kindles don’t really have all the connectivity that Mac and even mobile phones these days have. So, you might need to jump through some hoops to get your books onto the device.
Luckily, there are a few different ways to send books to kindle from Mac storage, depending on what you have available.

Send Books to Kindle From Mac via the Official App
While you previously might’ve needed to manually transfer EPUB files (which Amazon uses to store e-books), Amazon also has a dedicated app to expedite the process. It’s simple to use.
Step 1. Log into Amazon with your Amazon account so your e-book history is visible.
Step 2. Go to Amazon’s “Send to Kindle from Mac” page on your Mac.
Step 3. Click on the download link and wait for the process to finish.
Step 4. Open the executable to install the app. Follow the installation instructions in the setup wizard.
Step 5. Once installed, the tool doesn’t need to be run manually. Instead, you’ll get a new option in your Mac’s context menu when working with file types that Kindles support (including PDF and EPUB).
Step 6. On your Mac, find the file that you want to transfer to your Kindle. Right-click on it and select “Move to Kindle.” It should be near the bottom of the context menu.
Step 7. The “Send to Kindle” app will start. Drag and drop all the files that you want to move into the program’s field.
Step 8. You can use the toggle “Add to your library” to determine how the files will be saved. If turned on, the files will be uploaded to every device that is logged in with the Amazon account you’re using. Otherwise, it will only save to the local device, and you will be able to select the destination devices using the checkmarks below the upload menu.
Step 9. Hit “Send,” and the files will be transferred to the Kindle or your Amazon library, at which point your Kindle should automatically download them when it has a network connection.
Alternative to Send Books to Kindle From Mac
If you don’t want to download the app, you can also use Amazon’s web service for sending the files.
Step 1. Go to the “Send to Kindle via Web” page.
Step 2. Click “Log in” and enter your Amazon account credentials.
Step 3. Drag and drop the files that you want to send to your Kindle device(s). The devices have to have registered the same Amazon account you’re using to perform the transfer.
Step 4. Similar to before, you have the option to send the files to your library for all Kindle devices and apps, or to forward them to specific devices. Choose the option you want to use, then click on “Send.”
The files should be deposited in your Kindle library.
Send Books to Kindle From Mac Without an Internet Connection
Finally, there’s the good old option of using USB to manually transfer the files. You can plug in your device into the Mac and it should be detected, alongside its internal drive.
Move the files to the “documents” folder by dragging and dropping. Make sure that the files are in the correct format so that the Kindle can read them.
