Your internet service provider may require you to connect to the Internet with PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet). The setup assistant will not guide you to configure PPPoE connections when you set up a new MacBook or Mac Mini. Here is how you can do so:
- Get your username and password information from your Internet service provider (ISP).
- Ensure that you’ve turned on your modem and it is connected.
- Navigate the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
- Choose Network.
- Click the “+” button
- Choose “PPPoE”
- Click Create.
- Type your username and password.
- Click Connect.
