Why the Files App Keeps Freezing?
Many iPhone users have encountered this problem. For some users, the app gets frozen when they try to manage large files. For others, the app freezes when they open PDF documents, while in some situations, the app freezes at random situations.
There is no specific reason why the app keeps freezing – it’s a software problem that we hope will be resolved in some of the future updates.
What to do When Files App Freezes?
Let’s talk about some of the most frequent situations when the Files App freezes.
The App Freezes While Downloading or Uploading Files
Are you experiencing the app freezing (or crashing) when you try to upload or download files from the cloud storage? In those situations, the Resultant screen might be blank or might even show that there are no files.
The first thing you should do is to Force Close the app from the multitasking screen. Double-tap on the Home button, and when the App Switcher appears, slide up your finger on the screen to close the app.
If you own an iPad, slide your finger up from the bottom to the top of the screen until all active apps appear. Then, drag the preview of the Files app to the upper part of the screen to close it.
Simply start the app again and it should work well.
The Files App Freezes at Random Situations
If the app freezes at random situations, such as when you try to edit a file, or maybe when you try to open certain types of files, you should close the app the way we mentioned above. The next thing you should do is clear the cache of this app and see if that solves the problem.
- Go to Settings and tap on General.
- Tap on iPhone Storage and click the Files app.
- Tap Offload App. Confirm the selection.
Doing this will delete the app while keeping documents and data, so you will have to install the app again.
