Fix 1: Check Network Access in Power Settings

One of the main reasons for MacBook losing internet connection is incorrect network settings in Power settings. To fix it, go to MacBook Settings > Battery > click on Options. Select Only on Power Adapter next to Wake for network access option. If it’s already selected, select Never from the list. Restart your laptop and come back to the same setting. Then, select Only on Power Adapter.

Fix 2: Enable Auto Join for Wi-Fi Network

Next, ensure that your preferred Wi-Fi network is set to connect automatically. To do so, go to Settings > Wi-Fi > click on Details (or the three-dot icon) next to the Wi-Fi network > enable Auto-Join. If it’s already enabled, disable it and enable it again.

Fix 3: Turn off Wi-Fi 6E Mode

If your MacBook supports 6E mode, try turning it off to fix the issue of Mac losing Wi-Fi after sleep. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > click the three-dot icon (or Details button) next to the Wi-Fi name and turn off Wi-Fi 6E mode.

Fix 4: Keep Wi-Fi at Top Priority in Networks

  1. Go to Settings > Network > click on the three-dot icon at the bottom > select Set Service Order from the list.

  1. Drag Wi-Fi to the top and click on OK to save the changes.

Pro Tip: In the same setting, i.e., go to Setting > Network > three-dot icon > choose Locations > set it to automatic.

Fix 5: Delete All Existing Wi-Fi Networks

There’s a chance that any old network credentials are conflicting with the current Wi-Fi network. To fix this, delete all the known networks from your MacBook and add the current one again.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > click on Advanced at the bottom.
  2. Click on the three-dot icon next to all the Wi-Fi networks one by one > select Remove from List > press Done.
  3. Now, connect to your current Wi-Fi network.
