What’s New in iOS 15.3.1?
The release of iOS 15.3.1 may not seem like really all that big of a deal, but the company has provided a fix for an issue for some users. It seems that the release of iOS 15.3 (which was released just a couple of weeks ago) caused issues for those using Braille displays. In fact, those who use these displays found that the screen would stop responding altogether.
Along with providing that “hot-fix”, iOS 15.3.1 also include a series of “important” security updates. Here is the full changelog that you’ll see when the update arrives on your iPhone:
iOS 15.3.1 provides important security updates for your iPhone and fixes an issue that may cause Braille displays to stop responding.

Usually, Apple doesn’t provide any information when it comes to what’s included in any of the security patches. However, since this one was investigated, Apple has actually included the information as to what the security patch fixes:
WebKit
Available for: iPhone 6s and later, iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, iPad mini 4 and later, and iPod touch (7th generation)
Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
Description: A use after free issue was addressed with improved memory management.
CVE-2022-22620: an anonymous researcher
It’s not very frequently that we see Apple push an update like this so quickly. However, this also coincides with a bug-fix release for macOS Monterey which aims to solve battery-draining concerns that have been plaguing users.
Download iOS 15.3.1
If you haven’t already been prompted to download and install the iOS 15.3.1 update, then you will likely see the update by heading into the Settings app. From there, just tap General and then Software Update, and follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest version.
Given the severity of the security update, we recommend downloading and installing this update as soon as possible. This ensures that your iPhone will remain secure, and that you won’t end up experiencing any issues between now and the time that iOS 15.4 is released.
