Wi-Fi disabled and greyed out after iOS 6 update on the iPad or iPhone

Several users have reported Wi-Fi problems after updating to iOS 6. Mostly users have reported that the Wi-Fi option was greyed out.

It seems that this bug was a result of Apple’s servers being down for a short time. It has been further reported that this bug was fixed by Apple, so you do not need to do anything. If you are still having this issue, please leave a comment here.

UPDATE

It seems that many users are still having this problem.

Possible fixes:

  • Reset network settings (General->Reset->Reset Network Settings)
  • Toggle Airplane Mode on/off
  • Restart your device
  • Turn off Cellular Data ( Settings > General > Cellular) then try to connect to your WiFi.

I’m still having problems with my wifi, it is still disabled and greyed out after many attempts to reset my iPhone 4S.

  3. Fabian says

    Hi,

    first my dates:
    iPhone 4S 32 GB

My Wifi is greyed out since the iOS 6 update yesterday.
Ich restarted, rebooted (home + power – button), switch nearly everything on and off and reseted Networksettings again and again.
It still don’t allow me, to turn my Wifi on again.

I still have no more idea, what to do.
I’m going to try to reset my iphone per iTunes, hope it will works.

    Any other ideas or solutions?

    Thank you. Fabian

I am still having this issue (greyed out wifi button), tried all these fixes, called apple and spoke with three different techs, still no fix. They told me to take phone to apple store and they will look at and may replace my phone.

  5. JL says

Updated to the IOS 6 via iPhone download and not through itunes…..Wifi button is greyed out….I can’t even click it on…..

I tried restoring via itunes, resetting network data, airplane mode on/off, restart phone…..it doesn’t work……really need help…..

  6. HaeMKa says

Still greyed out, on my 3GS even after recovery.
My WiFi antenna has just been repaired. So it must be IOS6.
    We waite… ;-))

    • HaeMKa says

Today I made a new recovery on my IPHONE 3GS.
IOS6 again on my phone. Then I said that it must be set as a ne Phone. No recovery from old backup.
Suddenly i was asked to give the password for my WiFi accound. And then I had a WiFi connection. The button WiFi was not greyed out anymore. So I still think that it was a software issue no hardware.
Then I put an old back-up of the iphone back, and everything was normal again. My problem is happely over… ;-))

  7. Shirley says

I tried each of the proposed fixes. My iPhone 4S with 6.0 upgrade still does not allow the use of WiFi…the option is gray as indicated by previous comments. Hope a fix comes soon!

  8. Neill says

Am still having the same problem. The technicians don’t know what’s going on and are giving me the run round. Any other ideas??

  9. Pete says

Add me to the list. 4S with no issues whatsoever, upgraded to iOS 6 and now I get a grey wifi button. Reset Network Settings: nope. Restart phone: nope. Airplane mode on/off: nope. Cellular data on/off: nope.

Next is Apple Store Genius Bar. New phone please!!

  10. Søren says

I have the same problem. Time for Apple to fix this problem – and it would be nice to see them making a statement around that they are actually working to fix this

  11. Sean says

I can connect to wifi but it only works for a short time and then I won’t connect to the Internet again unless I restart the iPad. It still shows I am connected to wifi but I lose ability to do anything. This happened right after I updated to 6.0

  12. Brian Miller says

My iPhone 4S has had the WIFI grayed out ever since the update to ios 6. Have tried restoring it and resetting it several times. This better get fixed quickly.

  13. Fernando says

Iphon 4s, same problem, after goin to ios6, at the begining it work perfectly, but when i start updating the apps, my wifi turn gray and crash i have done everything restart, restore and didnt work

I restore to the basic settings but when i start updating the wifi crash again

  14. Marie says

I just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 6 and it is commected to wi-fi, however, Safari and Puffin don’t work anymore. I can use facebook and other apps.

  15. Barbara says

updated iphone 4s has greyed inoperative wi fi button. Oddly, after NOT working for 2 days, it did work about 2 days until Tuesday after noon and is not working regardless for the last couple days. Yesterday Sprint store had no clue, said prolly wait for Apple’s fix. The wifi setting indicates an apple server??

  16. Debra says

My wifi antenna symbol disappeared and the wifi toggle grayed out after installing several application updates. I hadn’t even installed iOS 6 yet. I tried installing iOS 6 to see if that might fix it and no luck. I’ve tried resetting networks and restoring my device. No luck. I sure hope Apple fixes this.

  17. Hani says

iPhone4S upgraded to iOS6 and found the following negative issues!

When you leave the phone after use/call/text whatever without pressing sleep bottom and expect the screen to go low lighting and then off, doesn’t and light stayed on even till battery die!!!!

WiFi signal bad and cut-off several times even indoor home network!!!!

    Battery goes down too fast!!!!

Carrier network Searching… and keep search hour/2/3 hours even after reset Network Sittings, trying to connect to network (searching…) and finally no service!!!!

Overall the iOS6 so bad and the fact apple slowly loosing control and it seems the whole Apple company were working under one person Steve Jobs!!!

Now it will take so long for Apple to repair theses issues on next software update plus they currently busy with the iPhone5 bad quality and customers claims against them.

If i`m not wrong time has come to change from Apple !!

  18. Mike says

Wifi greyed out on my iPhone4S after i0S6 upgrade – tied all the suggested fixes but still the same. Vodafone (carrier) couldn’t help as it is a software issue and suggested taking the phone to the Apple store.

  19. Sakushi says

Iphone 4S upgrade to IOS6 greyed out my WiFi. I’ve tried EVERY solution I came across today. Nothing worked!!! People are saying this is a hardware issue. Come on… it worked perfectly until I updated to IOS6. And it would allow me to go back to previous OS. Frustrating!!

  20. Max Hansen says

My wife and me plus our neigbour have All og the above same fucking problem.
This is a fucking discrase. If Anybody finds a solution please write.. If NOT This is our last IPhone.

  21. Max Hansen says

My wife and me plus our neigbour have All og the above same fucking problem.
This is a fucking discrase. If Anybody finds a solution please write.. If NOT This is our last IPhone.

  22. Sakushi says

Had the same issue. Tried EVERYTHING suggested on different forums. Finally went to the Genius bar. They attempted a restore and set up as new phone (which I had tried twice already before) and the Wifi was still greyed out. They then told me it was a hardware issue, not a software issue and asked if I was under warranty. I was since I bought the phone in June, 2012. I told her that I didn’t think it was a coincidence that the “hardware” issue happened right after upgrading to IOS6. They finally agreed to give me a new phone for free.

I heard that someone with the same problem was told by Apple that there is a bug in the IOS6 software that is causing the Wifi Chip to get damaged. It’s non-fixable. The only solution is a new phone which I think they should do whether under warranty or not!

  23. Barbara says

Fortunately I live near an Apple Store and made appt for this morning to check out why this OS 6 updated iPhone 4s had the greyed out inoperative Wi-Fi button.
So… they checked it out, confirmed it as a hardware issue, replaced it (I bought it in Jan) and reactivated it w/carrier without further ado.
I am no techie, but when I mentioned that if it was a hardware issue that it must have been a result of their firmware update that accompanied the OS 6 update, he did not disagree.
If you live near an Apple Store be sure to make an appt ahead of time unless you don’t mind an hour or more wait.

  24. militantdread says

i have the iphone 4 and worked wonderfully till 3 days ago when i updated to ios 6 hurry up apple and fix this ur suppose to b one of the best, y fix sumthing that isnt broken not happy

  25. John Price says

Come on Apple, this is beyond a joke!! If it is genuine hardware problems then it seems strange that everyone is having the same problem at exactly the same time. My wi-fi has been greyed out since I installed IOS6 and I am not happy. I am with Orange and their tech support is useless and as I live far from the nearest available apple store it will probably be another couple of weeks before I get chance to go!!! There must be a software patch that can reactivate the WI-fi functionality???

  26. Fernando says

Like everyone, I had the same problem, but I’m sure is not hardware, because after a lot of try’s , I found and all backup, that had the iOS 6 allready updated but not the apps. And when I restore it with that back up, my wifi work normally, but when I start to update the apps, the wifi crash again, so I restore it again , but didn’t update the apps, and my wifi still working.

So I found out that is something with the update of the apps

  27. John says

My wife and both got the 4s last December and they both worked fine. I updated to os6 and have having trouble too, she did not update and her phone works fine. I’ve done all the fixes I’ve seen here and still no luck. At first it would just loose connect, I reboot and it would work for awhile. I thought it may have apps that were not prepared for the new os, so I got it going and did not open any apps, it still lost connection. Sometimes the wifi was greeted out, other times not. I have reset all settings a number of times and toggled just about everything I can find. As of right now, wifi is greyed out and nothing seems to help even temporarily. I am very disappointed in apple, this is my first and last apple product. I would sell any stock ASAP.

  28. Barbara says

(PS to my post above) to expand on the “replaced it” part of that post: The replacement 4s phone was still OS 5 and the rep updated it on the spot to OS 6 and told me how to restore my contacts etc from settings at home (which was easy and it has been fine since, with strong battery operation too.)

If the glitch was hardware as stated by the Apple tech, then it must have happened in the firmware update that I did in conjunction with the OS 6 update. (I mentioned that and the rep did not suggest it was otherwise)

So what I wonder- is there a way to “delete” the firmware update by reinstalling OS 5?

If I HAD to do an intermediate fix and I was not contacting Apple directly Which Is The Better Solution- I would look in that direction.

Idem, stesso problema assurdo, switch wifi grigio!!! Risolto con 10 minuti di freezer. Ora funziona perfettamente. Grazie per aver postato la soluzione :-)

  29. Fay says

Still having issues with connecting to wifi using my iPhone 4S. Like others I updated to the iOS6 and have had nothing but problems with wifi, this means I’m having to rely on my data plan to use most of my apps (fbook, emails, maps, etc. )
I have tried all the options listed here & still now working
COME ON APPLE sort it out!!! Please!!

  30. Mohamed Shaltoot says

I couldn’t imagine this disappointing problem. My Wi-fi is grayed and I don’t have any solution to solve it. I tried to reset everythings network setting and all phone setting several times but nothing fixed.

I can’t imagine buying cell phone against more than 600 USD and then find out this problem without any solutions after 5 months only.

We have to sue apple against this manufacturing defect.

  31. KF says

Still no luck, tried everything suggested (reseting whole phone & network connection) and it’s still greyed out. Any idea when this defect will be sorted?

  32. Nicolo says

I have the same issues. Is it really a hardware issue or software issue? My iphone 4s still has a warranty. I have tried the reset network settings. Soft and hard reset but still it didn’t work.

  33. Scott says

This happened to me about a week ago (Early November, 2012) and lasted about 2 days. Then my WIFI just started working again.

  34. Michelle says

Same issue with iOS6. 6.0.1 is supposed to fix. Did update as well as complete reset of phone to Factory as new. Didn’t work. Apple will replace my NEW 4S with a refurbished 4S. Not sure what I’ll do yet. Hoping they come up with a better solution. Until then I’ll use cellular.

  35. Peter says

It worked fine when I upgraded to IOS6 some time ago, but now when I upgraded to IOS 6.01 the WiFi is grayed out, and nott possible to switch on
and at the same time the Bluetooth is malfunctioning. It can be switched on and off, but it doesn’t work the small “sun” is just rotating and no device can be attached neither new ones or old, already detected.
I have tried every sugested fix (hard reset, flightmode……), but no change in the fact WiFi stays grayed out and BT is out of order.
And I haven’t found any easy or reliable way of downgrading to IOS 5, so that is the only thing I haven’t done.
    – WHEN WILL APPLE RELESE A NEW VERSION THAT SOLVES THIS ??????
    Please, somebody. Information please.
There are a lot of threads and articles, but not a sound or line from Apple themselves, Why ???
Did all their competence die with Steve ????

    • Gunz says

Peter, I’ve got the same problem which you mentioned on my iphone 4S. The damn thing has greyed out WiFi and whatever solutions I came across the net has not rectified it after upgrading to iOS 6.0.1. I had a great opinion about Apple but no longer. Aren’t they paying any attention to all our pleas?? Investing so much money on a mobile for nothing!!

      APPLE ARE YOU HEARING US?????!!!!

So I decided to upgrade to IOS 6.0.1 but unfortunately the problem wasen’t solved, hope this is a soft. issue, waiting for apple to come out with a solution for this….

I just started troubleshooting my buddy’s iPhone after he just got this issue. Looks like we resolved the issue by quitting out of all the apps he had open, he wasn’t aware they could be closed and every app he’s ever launched was still running.

Solution: quit all open apps and reboot.

  46. Kenyetta says

ATTENTION!!! EVERYONE THAT IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR WIFI BEING GREYED OUT, HERE’S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO:

    1-Turn off your device
2-Take a zip lock bag, and place your device in the zip lock bag.
3-Place the zip lock bag in the freezer, with your phone inside it, for 10 minutes!
4-Take it out the freezer and the bag, and turn on your device. Wifi should be working after this!

P.S. THIS REALLY WORKS! I JUST DID IT!

Idem, stesso problema assurdo, impossibile attivare wifi a causa di switch grigio!!! Ero fuori casa l’iPhone 4s 32gb funzionava perfettamente.

I went through this in Sept (4S which I upgraded to os6). Tried everything to fix the greyed wifi except put it in the freezer. Finally after 2 wks took it to Apple store. They replaced it with another 4s, upgraded it on the spot and has been fine. They said it was a hardware issue. (I think it was the firmware update).
I haven’t had the nerve to upgrade it to OS 6.1 nor update any apps since then.

I solved this issue for a friend of mine, didn’t see if anybody tried my fix because nobody has replied.

To fix it, I just quit all the apps that were running (my friend still had every app he’d ever used running because, like most iPhone users, he didn’t know they were automatically still running in the background) and then I rebooted.

    Problem solved.

  64. Hal Haladir says

After a year and six days, my iPhone 4S did the same thing– WiFi control grayed out, Bluetooth control just spins. Apple Store says nothing they can do because it’s out of warranty– and tried to sell me a new phone for $200. AT&T won’t upgrade me to a new phone because I still have a year on my contract.

Everything seems to indicate a hardware problem with the WiFi chip– not the antenna, the chip, which is soldered to the logic board. This cannot be repaired by an amateur– only a serious electronics hobbiest should attempt the fix. (I can replace a screen, but this is beyond my ability.)

I had AT&T re-activate my old iPhone 3GS and will use this for the rest of my contract, then I will be buying either an Android or a Windows Phone 8 device. I will NEVER, EVER buy another Apple device as long as I live. I can’t believe that they are refusing to help out a loyal customer who has a problem that obviously a manufacturing defect.

    Class-action suit, anyone?

Ok…fyi…my experience…the freezer fix does work…I just tried it. I’m from the uk and working in kl. My phone got too hot in the KL sun (not a problem I have back home!) and stopped working with a message about temp too high. I turned it off, let it cool and seemed ok when I turned it back on. A couple of days later I noticed the wifi was not connecting and the button was greyed out. 5 minutes in the freezer…it’s now working! I’m thinking this might be temporary – but as crazy as it sounds…it is worth a try.

    Hi everybody,
same as all of you: wifi greyed out and bluetooth spinning and spinning ….and spinning…..
Tried all solutions ( well all those published here and in some other forums ) : reboot, re-reboot. I also put it in the freezer for ten minutes: this actually did something: when I turned it back on the wifi actually did work again and automatically recognized my wifi at home. I was happy as a puppy !!!! tried safari and turned the bluetooth on: IT ALL WORKED !!!
Well my happiness only lasted a few minutes……….the phone little by little …turned bluetooth off ( tried again and the it just started spinning again without getting anywhere…)…and the wifi just turned itself off, it went back to the 3G network, and when I opened the Settings, Wifi: BACK TO GREYED OUT BUTTON !!!!!!!!!
I did the freezer “act” again, and it all happened again the same as the first time, and unfortunately after a few minutes it just stopped working again…!!!

So, for those who says that the freezer solution is a stupid thing written by somebody trying to pull our legs…well maybe it is stupid but it works for a while: what does it mean? I have no clue, I am no technician. The only sure thing about this “bug” is that after 25 years of buying apple products it really pissed me off to have a 700 $ phone acting as if the technology in it has been “improvised” by some clowns hidden behind an APPLE !!!!!

Well , maybe we should all go back to what a Mac used to be long time ago : A BIG MAC, a few bucks and if it is not good, we can still throw it away without wasting too much money !!!!!!!

Ive had my iPad 2 for 2 yrs I’m on 5.1.1 just recently I’ve experienced the greyed out problem. I haven’t updated because of others updating and still having the greyed out problem.

I am really disappointed with Ipad and Apple. The WiFi stopped working properly after less than one year (constantly turning off) but I was not that worried because I use the device mostly in my home country and I also have purchased a mobile connection. Now, however, I was planning to take the device aborad and would need the WiFi. First it seemed to be turning on but then was greyed out and has remained so even if I have tried everything advised on these support pages. The warranty went out some 8 months ago and according to Apple authorized service they would only change the device and charge the client 300+ euros for that. Thanks but no thanks.

Hi, try resetting the modem / Router, turn it off power for at least a minute, then power back.
          That’s what fixes mine.
          Have a blessing day!

Both wi fi and Bluetooth will not work. I’ve tried everything that others have suggested but nothing works.

I haven’t had the nerve to update the iphone to 6.1 since the apple store replaced my 4s back in Nov or thereabouts. but the wifi on 6.0 HAS worked since then after the upgrade. I still think it was the firmware update that did something at that time.

My iPhone has just given me the “greyed out wifi” problem too. I’ve turned my phone on and off twice, reset the network settings, and toggled the airplane mode on and off.
I don’t know what to do now, so if anybody could help me, that would be great.

Yesterday my wifi on/off greyed out. I’ve gone through all the fixes and nothing is working. I guess I’ll make a trip to the store and see what they have to say. Really frustrated since there are so many posts about the same thing over many months. Seems there should have been a fix by now.

Hi all, I’ve had the same problem with my iPhone 4S running IOS 6.1.2. BUT it is back online with a not greyed out WiFi :-))) history: _I was really frustrated because warranty was over and because of I have bought the iPhone in Orlando USA (I am living in Germany) I had no chance to get it changed in the Apple store. I know warranty is only for 12 months but Apple care told me via phone that I get a refurbished one in an US apple store. Ok, not really an option for me ! Then I tried everything which is posted here. Reset network settings, Backup as new iPhone, jailbreak, try to downgrade, fridge, hairdryer etc… The only thing which worked for me was the fridge :-) After 20 minutes with -16°C i was able to turn on WiFi. The Wifi switch was not greyed out anymore and wifi was connected to my router. Unfortuneately it only worked for 10 to 15 minutes and then wifi lost connection and the switch was again greyed out. __—My Solution— (wifi is working for nearly 2 days now without any interruption !!!! )_I forgot my iPhone on my desk at work. At the next morning I recognized that only 10% Power was left in the battery. Of course it last not the hole day and so when it reached 4% it switched off automatically. When I arrived at home a couple of hours later I´ve plugged it to the charger. When i looked at it again it has some 30% battery power and as a really big surprise I saw the wifi symbol which said connected to a network :-))))_ I couldn´t believe it but it was true !!!! My wifi was working again and it was connected to my home net. I ve tried a lot things since now ( switching to flight mode, switching the phone off etc.) but it is still working 100% and as I said fully stable .__So let your Iphone run fully out of power, maybe wait some extra time and then charge the phone and look what happens !__I really hope that this is not only a coincidence and that my post help you guys to manged this annoying problem !!! Give it a try it really solved my Problem (again: 2 days now and still working :-))__I would be happy to get your feedback !!!__Best regards _Michael_

I have a 4S and have had the same problems as reoprted everywhere; greyed out wifi, bluetooth & carrier. I have tried all the suggestions on the forums and today I thought I had come across the solution when I resorted to what I felt was the last resort – turning it off and putting in the freezer for 25 minutes. Hey presto it worked! Although the icons remain greyed out I could use the wifi. How pleased was I that after months of not working, it worked!

Sdaly though, this was short lived and after an hour and a half if reverted back to not being able to connect to wifi. So I’ve put it back in the freezer and taken it out again and again it is working. Probably not for long.

With the amount of complaints from frustrated iPhone users why, isn’t Apple acknowledging the fault? I’m in the position where I need to buy and new laptop – will I be choosing and Apple Mac? I have no confidence in Apple!

Wifi button disabled for me too. None of the fixes suggested here worked.

    I have iPhone 4S.
Really don’t want to deal with backup and restore. Not cool.

    Hello
I tried the hairdryer solution with my 4S. Firstly remove the back cover and battery. (See ifixit.com).Next direct the hairdryer hot air along the logic board and across the top of it. I heated this area for 2 mins keeping the hairdryer moving slowly all the time to avoid overheating. Let the phone cool, replaced the battery etc. Result !!

NB I removed the battery because these should not be heated up.

I’ve been having this problem with my iPhone 4S since the 6.0 upgrade. Apple’s been of no help because my warranty is up. I”m looking to getting an Android next.

The freezer fix only worked a few times and now I’m just as frustrated as before. Why aren’t Apple taking full responsibility for this? Samsung SIII here I come……

Intermittent WiFi connectivity problems for some time, and now the WiFi button is grayed out.

What kind of idiots put their iPhones/iPads/iPods in the freezer or use a hairdryer on them?

These are two of Apple’s many focops, it is as simple as that. I’m going Korean on their asses.

  86. Ellice says

Wtf!!! Wifi greyed out again on my iPhone 4S. No wifi AGAIN or Bluetooth. Soooo I tried the last thing on the list even if it sounded silly. What I saw online on an apple blog – Put it in the fridge for about 30 min. Omg…..it worked. But people say it won’t last long. What is going on apple?????? So frustrated!!

I just updated my iPod touch to iOS 6 and when i was done i typed in my wifi password and it told me that it was unable to connect. I am really getting mad with this!! I have tried many different things to fix it, but none of them have worked. has any one came up with a solution? this is getting on my nerves!

  88. Sam says

I had the same problem where my Iphone 4s WIFI was completely grey out. I had showed my colleague at work and he said I should TURN both AIRPLANE and DO NOT DISTURB ON, then turn my phone off for about 15MIN. I then turned my phone back ON after about 20min, turned OFF Airplane MODE and Do Not Disturb…VIOLA my WIFI and Bluetooth have been working ever since then. So I guess it’s a bug in iOS 6.1.3…..

Recap: GOTO Settings > AIRPLANE MODE ON, Do Not Disturb ON> Turn Off Phone > Leave for 15min-20min > Turn Phone Back On > Turn Off AIRPLANE MODE, Do Not Disturb > Turn WIFI ON. Cheers !!!

  89. Tamara says

STILL no joy despite trying all the fixes listed – only the freezer one worked for half an hour. How on earth can Apple say there isn’t a problem? Would I buy Apple again – NO as I have no faith in them or their products.

I have Greyed Wifi Iphone 4 I got from Craigslist for $180 from stranger, took it home the phone is DEAD I charge it it was powered on but when I unplug its DEAD, I charged it overnight. the next morning it works (normal) no plug. So I set up as a new (WIFI everything works).
And for some reason Wifi Greyed, After some strange charging session (messed up battery gauge)the phone finally dead and when its fully recharcged the Wifi works (NOT Greyed)

3 months later my battery was completely dead after 22 hour Flight to Indonesia, and was unable to get (Greyed Wifi)again. THE FIX simply for some reason when I get back to US bought a couple battery from AMazon change the Battery It works until today, I suspect this time have something to do with battery connection / Back Case. “So everytime the Wifi Grayed on this phone discnect and reconnect the Back Case and works.” Boots.

    High Light:
This Iphone 4 I got from Craigslist has a Broken Battery Connector connecting to Motherboard (it came off and its gone, I have not instaled a new one. But I keep my battery intact to the connecting joints of the Battery connector under it, (by force). The phone works normal for now, Wifi and everything Works, I suspect he guy from Craighlist manage to replace the screen safely only broke the Battery Connector (permanent damage).

Just Additional info of what I’ve experienced, it looks to me between software glitched that has something to do with battery in my case.

Uhgg!!!! Have spent hours on this problem with the help of friends, family and internet.Have turned off and on;reset everything; Backed up and restored; Put in the freezer, to no avail. I am trying the: turn on the airplane mode , do not disturb and turn off for 25min, method. If this doesn’t work will try letting battery run down…and turning back on. Of interesting note my bluetooth was turned off as well, but was able to turn it back on. Otherwise ,what the heck??? And Apple can’t help us!!! I will be making a trip to the Apple Store…will be interesting to see what they have to say…will keep u posted.

OK an update.. wifi still not working. Called AT&T technical support (thinking might be from that end), they were very helpful. I told her what was already done with no success. She spent at least a half hour with me with no luck of fixing the issue. Was then transferred by AT&T rep to Apple rep, was told (by Apple Rep) to restore to factory settings and he took my phone number and e-mail address. He told me someone would return my call in 1/2 hour to see if this resolved the issue. Would you know I received an e-mail from them saying they could not reach me (I was sitting by the phone the entire time).. he had put a totally bogus phone number. I sent a response e-mail and made an appointment (OMG) by way of phone…They returned my call and reported they could help me for a fee (because my free phone support time was over). REALLY!!!!!!!! That was it..I made an appointment by the computer with the APPLE Store. I was told it had a faulty chip…OK…My phone had 82 more days of warranty and therefore I received a new phone…YEAH!!!! But I wonder what if my phone was out of warranty?? I expressed my concern about this happening again.. The apple rep at the store assured me that was very rare and he has not had any returned (that were replaced). Hmmmmm….ok then:> Time will tell. Finally WIFI..
