Fix: iPhone Ringtone Is Too Low Even on High Volume

By Mehvish 0 comments Last updated October 3, 2024

Quick Fixes
  • Restart your iPhone. Sometimes, a recent update or a bug affects the volume and keeps it at a minimum even though the setting shows it’s at high setting.
  • Ensure the iPhone is updated to the latest version from Settings > General > Software Update.

Fix 1: Turn off Attention Awareness Features

This solution has done wonders for many users in addressing the issue of iPhone ringtones remaining quiet or low, even at the highest volume setting. All you need to do is turn off the Attention Awareness features on your iPhone.

  • Go to Settings > Face ID & Attention and turn off Attention-Aware Features
  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control > turn off Attention Aware.

Fix 2: Increase Ringtone Volume Manually

Next, you should change the iPhone ringtone volume manually. Basically, sometimes, even though the slider is at maximum, a bug or recent update may have caused some issues.

  1. Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics. Move the slider under Ringtone and Alerts up and down once or twice.
  2. Then, keep it at the highest setting, i.e., on the extreme right side.
  3. Also, disable the Change with Buttons setting, as you could accidentally change the ringtone volume while changing the media volume.

Fix 3: Ensure Audio Volume Is Balanced

There’s an accessibility setting on the iPhone that allows you to change the audio balance between the right and left audio channels. You may have accidentally moved the slider to the extreme position, thus affecting the ringtone volume.

To fix it, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual. Scroll down and keep the slider in the center position under the Balance section.

Fix 4: Disable iPhone Calls on Other Devices

You should also try turning off the Calls on Other Devices feature on your iPhone. While this setting shouldn’t directly affect the ringtone, a bug may be causing the issue. Go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices > turn off Allow Calls on Other Devices.

Fix 5: Turn off Face ID Temporarily

Before we move to resetting settings, turn off Face ID on your iPhone. A bug in the attention awareness setting could be affecting the ringtone. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > tap Reset Face ID.

Fix 6: Reset Settings

Finally, if nothing works, try resetting your iPhone’s settings. Please note that it will not delete any data on your iPhone but will reset all settings to default values. If any setting makes the iPhone ringtone sound low, even if it’s on high volume, this will fix it. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.
